Locally owned comedy and improv theatre the Brave New Workshop will be opening their holiday show, THE TRUMP WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS tonight to a sold-out audience.

"This show is different from any other Christmas show I've done in the 19 years I've been here," says Artistic Director Caleb McEwen. "These aren't the typical scenarios you see in lots of holiday entertainment. Every sketch is a surprise."

Featuring Brave New Workshop cast members Lauren Anderson, Bobby Gardner, Ryan Nelson, Tom Reed, and Taj Ruler, and directed by Caleb McEwen, this show features sketch comedy, music montages and songs, and the signature fast paced improv the Brave New Workshop is known for, all with a holiday theme.

When asked to pick his favorite sketch, McEwen thinks hard and then says, "The Twelve Days of Christmas is a classic, and I love rewriting it each year. I think this year's version is the funniest we've ever done. All of [the sketches] have moments that are fantastic, and I love the way so many of them end up tying together. Sitting in the audience and listening to people gasp and laugh as they realize the connections between sketches has been a lot of fun."

Previews for this show sold out, and dates for December are filling fast. A perennial favorite for group holiday parties, families with older children, and theater lovers throughout the Twin Cities, this show is a holiday tradition that has left people laughing for years.

McEwen, for one, thinks that this holiday show has something for everyone. "If you need to forget everything and just laugh for two hours, this is the show for you. If you are sick of seeing the exact same Christmas entertainment play out again and again, this is the show for you. We show you the Christmas you actually have, as opposed to the Christmas everyone pretends they have when they post on Facebook."

Tickets for THE TRUMP WHO STOLE CHRISTMAS are being sold online at theatre.bravenewworkshop.com/BuyTickets/BuyTicketsOnline.aspx, by emailing theatre@bravenewworkshop.com, or by calling 612-332-6620.

Now in our 58th year of crafting audacious, hilarious, and thought-provoking original comedy, improv and satire in Minneapolis, the Brave New Workshop (BNW) Comedy Theatre is a Twin Cities comedy institution, and a truly unique place to laugh, learn, think, and play. The BNW has been writing, performing and producing original sketch comedy, music and comedy improvisation longer than any other theatre in the United States.

Featuring a comedy and improv theater, a theater space that hosts stand up comedy (like the Experimental Thinking showcase), podcasts, special shows and more, The Brave New Workshop also works with corporations to offer emcee services, video services, custom comedy and improv, keynote speeches, and also houses a school featuring improv classes for actors, professionals, kids and anyone with a desire to learn how to be more creative and communicative.
