Having wowed Hollywood Fringe Festival audiences in 2012 with their acclaimed production of SPEED MERCHANT (OF VENICE), Action! Theatre Company returns to the 2014 Fringe Festival with the West Coast Premiere of Mickle Maher's comedy, THERE IS A HAPPINESS THAT MORNING IS. In partnership with Christina Keefe, Director of Rice University's Theatre Program and directed by A!TC Artistic Director, Tiger Reel, Action! Theatre Co. is proud to bring this beautiful and funny ode to love, sex and the poetry of William Blake to the Lounge Theatre.

THERE IS A HAPPINESS THAT MORNING IS which premiered at Chicago's Theatre Oobleck in 2011, is presented as two lectures from Bernard and Ellen, college professors and scholars on the poet William Blake. One lecture is given in the morning by Bernard, a barely published poet/musician, on the and the other in the afternoon by his lover, Ellen, a respected PhD on the Songs of Experience. The night before their lectures, Bernard and Ellen spontaneously made love on the college's public green in front of the entire school and must now either apologize or defend their act to the student body who witnessed it. While speaking in Maher's quick, funny and sharp rhymes they give their divergent views on their sharedexperience and offer a real and hard look at love, its challenges and its miracles.

Joining Christina Keefe (Ellen) in this production are Jack Young (Bernard), who delivered a knockout performance as Shylock in SPEED MERCHANT and Ted Heyck as the college president who harbors a beautiful and terrible secret of his own.

"I'm very excited to be part of this West Coast Premiere of Mickle Maher's play," Reel said, "I've been a fan of his work for years and have been looking for an opportunity to tackle one of his extraordinarily funny touching plays. With Christina, Jack and Ted on board, I know this will be a remarkable production."
