The Long Beach Playhouse has sent out a call to directors of diverse ethnicities and backgrounds to submit their resume to be considered for upcoming shows.

The statement from the Playhouse that was posted on Social Media earlier this month read:

"In an effort to better reflect our community and our city the Long Beach Playhouse is looking for African American, Asian American and Latino American directors to submit their resumes for consideration in our upcoming seasons. Please pass this on to anyone and everyone you know! Send resumes and cover letters directly to pr@lbplayhouse.org."

"We have a certain responsibility to our community," said Andrew Vonderschmitt, executive and producing artistic director, "and part of that is to reflect the community that we serve."

This does not mean that any director can get the job simply to fill a 'quota' said Vonderschmitt, "We are still keenly interested in producing the same quality theatre that our patrons have come to expect, so only qualified directors should apply." he went on to say, "But you can't get the gig unless you apply so send in those resumes!"

Qualified and interested directors should send resumes and cover letters directly to the theater at pr@lbplayhouse.org.
