CVRep Theatre is back for its fourth outstanding season with a mélange of four plays by four critically acclaimed playwrights that celebrate some of the distinct cultures that resonate in America today.

Opening this season is the award winning play, THE CHOSEN, first a top selling novel by Chaim Potok, and then successfully adapted for the stage by Aaron Posner and Chaim Potok.

THE CHOSEN concerns the tensions of living a religious life in a secular society. It is the "now classic" story of two fathers and two sons and two very different Jewish communities, five blocks and a world apart in Williamsburgh, Brooklyn, New York, in the 1940s. Set against the backdrop of the times, THE CHOSEN remains not essentially political or religious, but deeply human. As the boys grow to manhood they are forced to learn important lessons about each other, their fathers, themselves.

CVRep's Artistic Director speaks to his decision to open his Fourth Season with THE CHOSEN. "Although most people may not know the play, THE CHOSEN," says Ron Celona, "They are familiar with the novel or film of the same title, so it was my feeling that this wonderful play would be the perfect fit to kick off our season of the American Melting Pot." Ron continues about his cast. "The audition process was difficult since this is a period piece that requires strong male actors of many ages. There are 5 men to be exact, who I believe will deliver powerful performances in their roles."

David Light, Drew Feldman, Daniel Seigerman, Dave Natale and Dennis Gersten will be the central figures when THE CHOSEN, takes to the stage, tonight, October 29 through November 16, 2014. Tickets are $45.00 and Showtimes are Wed-Sat 7:30pm, and Sat-Sun at 2:00pm. Call the box office 760-296-2966 or check the website, www.cvrep.org, for more details.
