Bay Area Cabaret, the non-profit organization devoted to presenting internationally renowned artists who expand the definition of cabaret, announce a special event-a return engagment by Tony Award winning Broadway and television star Annaleigh Ashford, performing April 24 in San Francisco's historic Venetian Room. Singing an eclectic mix of Sondheim, Alanis Morisette, Kurt Weil and Donna Summer, Annaleigh Ashford will perform an energetic program that displays her clever sense of humor and emotional depth, and demonstrates the infinite possibilities of the cabaret genre. This past spring, Ms. Ashford swept the awards season on Broadway, winning the Tony, Outer Critics Circle, and Drama Desk Awards for Best Featured Actress in a Play, for her role alongside James Earl Jones in the revival of You Can't Take It With You. This month, Ashford is conquering Broadway once again, opposite Matthew Broderick, in the title role of Sylvia, the poodle in A. R. Gurney's play about a Manhattan love triangle (husband, wife and pet), which opens on Broadway on October 27. On television, Annaleigh Ashford stars as Betty Dimelo in the hit Showtime series, Masters Of Sex, now in its third season. Her film appearances include Sex In the City: The Movie and Rachel Getting Married.
