The Long Island Theatre scene is really shaping up this upcoming spring/summer season. As most of the theatres have announced their schedule, I'm thrilled to bring you a preview.

The beautiful John W. Engeman Theatre at Northport has had a wonderful year (their season started in July of 2012) and they have 2 more shows for their 2012-2013 season, Boeing-Boeing and South Pacific. Their next season will be announced within the next few months. Visit www.engemantheatre.com for more details.

Just last week, the Gateway Playhouse also announced their season. Grease, Young Frankenstein, Singin' In The Rain, and Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story are all on the bill in addition to some special engagements. For more information, please visit gatewayplayhouse.com.

Creative Ministries Performing Arts Center has wonderful shows on their itinerary. Oliver, Anything Goes, Into The Woods, and 42nd Street round out their Spring/Summer season. In addition, they have children's theatre productions that include The Tale Of Peter Rabbit, Frog and Toad, The Real Story Of Little Red Riding Hood, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin, Jr.

The Smithtown Performing Arts Center also has a great season ahead. They have Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson, Driving Miss Daisy, and Cabaret for their season (that actually runs until October).

The BroadHollow Theatre Company has great spring/summer productions coming up including Sinners, Urinetown, and I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change. They switch between their BayWay Theatre location and Elmont location.

Theatre Three in Port Jefferson also has a few more shows left for their season (their year begins in the fall). Finishing up their wonderful year is The Diary Of Anne Frank and The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee. Additionally, they are holding their festival of one-act plays, showing unproduced, up-and-coming work, from March 3rd to April 6th.

Whew! I will definitely be a busy bee this spring/summer season! I look forward to seeing as many shows as I can and bringing you the great talent the Long Island theatre scene offers.
