South Bend Civic Theatre Announces Their Upcoming Auditions

SBCT will hold auditions for "Blue", "The 39 Steps", and "The Madwoman of Chaillot" over the next few weeks so mark your calendars! Dates and basic info are below, more details for each show including role breakdowns and rehearsal/production dates can be found at www.sbct.org.

Auditions for "The 39 Steps" will be held Thursday November 17th and Friday November 18th at 7 PM in the Studio Theatre, South Bend Civic Theatre, 403 N. Main St. Richard Baxter ("A Flea in Her Ear", "Moon Over Buffalo") directs this wacky mashup of Hitchcock and hilarity; part suspenseful spy chase story, part parody, and all theatrical magic! Actors needed: one male for role of Richard Hannay (20-40), one female (20-40) for three characters, two "clowns" to play numerous roles males and female. Actors must be physically fit, creative and willing to be uninhibited with strong
dialect skills. Rehearsals tentatively to begin January 9th and performances will run March 2nd-18th in the Wilson Mainstage Auditorium.

Auditions for "Blue" will be held Monday November 21st and Tuesday November 22nd at 7 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 333 N Main St (just south across Madison St from the theatre), downtown South Bend. Special Guest Ron OJ Parson will direct this contemporary look at members of a successful African-American family striving for identity and purpose. Actors needed: 3 females (one late 30's-40's, one 60's to 70's, one late teens-early 20's), 4 males (one late teen's-early 20's, one early to late 40's, one late 20's, one indeterminate - sings jazz/blues style song throughout), one or two boys (10-12, may be double cast) - all African-American. Performance dates are January 19th to February 5th in the Wilson Mainstage Auditorium.

Auditions for "The Madwoman of Chaillot" will be held Monday December 5th and Tuesday December 6th at 6:30 PM in the Studio Theatre, South Bend Civic Theatre, 403 N. Main St. SBCT Executive Director Tami Ramaker directs Jean Giradoux's classic fable #of a set of courageous eccentrics who take on the "powers that be" for all the ills they have caused the world. Actors needed: large cast of 17 from 15-16 year old girl, late teens, to men and women of vintage years.

There will be doubling of roles and needs for singers and people with special skills like juggling, drumming, dancing, or magic. Rehearsals will be weekday evenings with a Saturday tech week before performance. Performances are February 10th-19th in the Warner Studio Theatre.
Scripts for all three shows are available to be checked out from the SBCT box office with a $10 refundable deposit, office is open weekdays from 12-6 (please call ahead for script availability at 574-234-1112).
