Chorale Presents DECK THE HALL- the Best Way to Celebrate Christmas!

The Colorado Springs Chorale and special guests Chamber Orchestra of the Springs celebrate the Christmas season with the 30th annual Deck the Hall concert at the Pikes Peak Center on Friday, December 9 at 7:30 P.M. Vibrant voices, warm strings and brilliant brass will fill the hall with merry melodies and holiday harmonies, blending the warmth of the past with hope for the future.

The Chorale's Artistic Director Deborah Jenkins Teske will conduct an uplifting program that includes Healey Willan's Hodie Christus natus est, selections from two Bach oratorios, John Rutter's haunting Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind, Vaclav Nelhybel's joyous Estampie Natalis, and Bob Chilcott's On Christmas Night, a beautiful collection of traditional carols. The Chorale is also proud to present local composer and Chorale member Judith Kramer's arrangement of Away in a Manger, as well as A Christmas Feast by our own Daniel Brink - the Chorale's principal accompanist. Our traditional audience carols return to the program, giving each audience member the opportunity to celebrate the season along with the Chorale. In addition to the skills of accompanist Daniel Brink and organist Carol Wilson, the Chorale will be accompanied by our city's own Chamber Orchestra of the Springs.

Under the baton of Thomas Wilson, the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs will perform Vaughan Williams' beloved Fantasia onGreensleeves, and will feature concertmaster Jacob Klock in "Winter" from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons.

The Chorale is pleased to announce that the Eagleview Middle School 8th Grade Swing Choir, directed by Wes Sparks, will provide pre-concert music in the lobby, performing some of their own selections as well as leading our audience in a sing-a-long to get everyone in the spirit of the evening! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting in the lobby, and will be glad to pose for selfies with all the kiddos - young and old!

The Chorale is the oldest continuously operating volunteer chorus in the Rocky Mountain region (Canada to Mexico) and are currently celebrating their 60th Anniversary season! Each year the Chorale is pleased to share the magic of choral music with in ways that reach far outside the typical performance "box". They host up to about 100 people from various community service organizations each year at our Deck the Hall concert. The Chorale takes the show "on the road" each year to Cripple Creek, performing a donations only concert with 100% of those donations going to support social service programs in the Cripple Creek community. Carolers from the Chorale visit a variety of care facilities each season, bringing the beauty, joy and hope found in the music to people who may feel forgotten during this busy season.
