The Lion in Winter tells the story of King Henry II who has three sons: Richard the Lionhearted, Geoffrey and John. He wants the kingdom to stay united after his death, but all three sons want to rule. The King favors John, while his Queen, Eleanor of Aquitaine, favors Richard, the middle son, Geoffrey, hopes to play both ends against each other and come out on top. Uneasy is the head on which the crown lies, and uneasy the truce between a matchless king and queen. The basis of the Oscar-winning film which starred Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn and a television version starring Patrick Stewart and Glenn Close, The New York Times called The Lion in Winter "A work of intelligence, astringent wit, and much theatrical skill."-

The CPCC Theatre cast of The Lion in Winter includes James K. Flynn as Henry II, Polly Adkins as Eleanor, Byron J. Miller as Richard, Matt Kenyon as Geoffrey, Ian Easterbrook as John, Poppy Pritchett as Alais and Justin Younts as Phillip. Stage direction by Tom Hollis.
