Husband Brandon Blackstock is the first man singer Kelly Clarkson has said "I love you" to and meant it, she tells Tracy Smith in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD to be broadcast March 1 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.

Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2013 and in 2014 she gave birth to a girl, River Rose.

"He was the first guy I... said it [to] - and wanted to say it," Clarkson tells Smith. "I didn't feel like I had to. Because, like, 'Oh, that's what you have to do when you say it.' Yeah, yeah, that's the first time that happened. That's horrible. But it's true. And that's how - what it is."

Clarkson, the first winner of the reality singing competition "American Idol," has sold more than 20 million albums. Her latest collection is the first music she's made as a mother. Clarkson is now also part of a musical dynasty. Her husband is a talent manager as is her father-in-law, Narvel Blackstock, who is married to country star Reba McEntire.

Clarkson admits she never expected to get married. Growing up, her views on married were skewed by the divorces she saw around her, she tells Smith.

"I never thought honestly I would get married or fall in 'love,' like they say in the movies," Clarkson says. "You know, I never thought that would happen. And not so because I didn't think it was true."
Clarkson adds that it wasn't something she was "presented" with growing up. "I just didn't know if it was possible."

The singer also talks with Smith about her career, her childhood, where she keeps her awards and the inspiration for her music.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
