Husband Brandon Blackstock is the first man singer Kelly Clarkson has said "I love you" to and meant it, she tells Tracy Smith in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD to be broadcast March 1 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.
Clarkson and Blackstock married in 2013 and in 2014 she gave birth to a girl, River Rose. "He was the first guy I... said it [to] - and wanted to say it," Clarkson tells Smith. "I didn't feel like I had to. Because, like, 'Oh, that's what you have to do when you say it.' Yeah, yeah, that's the first time that happened. That's horrible. But it's true. And that's how - what it is." Clarkson, the first winner of the reality singing competition "American Idol," has sold more than 20 million albums. Her latest collection is the first music she's made as a mother. Clarkson is now also part of a musical dynasty. Her husband is a talent manager as is her father-in-law, Narvel Blackstock, who is married to country star Reba McEntire. Clarkson admits she never expected to get married. Growing up, her views on married were skewed by the divorces she saw around her, she tells Smith.Follow CBS SUNDAY MORNING on Facebook and Twitter.
