When you spend four decades doing sportscasts, newscasts, interviews and talk shows, you meet a lot of extraordinary people.

In his new book, 'A Fly on the Wal'l, Walt Brown reflects on a lifetime of encountering and witnessing the greatest celebrities and events of the last 50 years. From Willie Mays in the outfield to football's "Game of the Century", he's been through it all.

"Celebrities often put up a different front for the public," said Brown. "You can really get to know your heroes as humans when you've got the advantage of being the third party in the news."

Brown vividly recalls events that made the history books while giving them his fresh and unique perspective. How many historians can say that they talked to Dan Marino and Jesse Owens as they waited for their flights?

With his extensive experience, Brown also speaks to the changing times of the '60s and '70s when the Vietnam War and gender and racial equality movements were changing politics and spilling over to the world of sports. His holistic view shows that as society changes, so do our sports and who we call heroes.

"I want to show America their greatest heroes from the view of the fly on the wall, not the camera in their face," said Brown.
