WORLD NEWS Ranks No. 1 in Key News Demo

For the week of October 28, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 7.828 million Total Viewers and a 1.7 rating/7 share/2.007 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. Building on its Adults 25-54 audience (+2% -1.973 million on w/o 10/21/13) to hit a season high, "World News" drew its largest news demo audience in 7 weeks - since w/o 9/9/13. In addition, "World News" stood as the only evening newscast to grow week to week in Adults 25-54, as "CBS Evening News" (-2%) and "NBC Nightly News" (-2%) turned in losses.

"World News" ranked No. 1 in Adults 25-54 on Thursday (10/31/13), beating NBC's "Nightly News" by +3,000 demo viewers (2.082 million vs. 2.079 million).

"World News" cut its Adults 25-54 gap with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits compared to the previous week (-35% - 131,000 vs. 203,000) to post its closest performance with the NBC program since season premiere week 5 weeks ago - since w/o 9/23/13.

"World News" slashed its year-to-year margins with "NBC Nightly News" in both Total Viewers (-42% - 851,000 vs. 1.462 million) and Adults 25-54 (-84% - 131,000 vs. 820,000). In fact, "World News" has narrowed its news demo margin with "Nightly News" by double-digits Versus the year-ago week in the last 3 weeks and in 4 of 6 weeks this season.

Season to date, "World News" is up Versus the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%), delivering its best overall viewer start to a season in 5 years - since the 2008-09 season. "World News" is also up the most from the same point last season in the key adult news demo compared to "CBS Evening News" (-9%) and "NBC Nightly News" (+3%).

In addition, "World News" narrowed its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 by double-digits (-22%) compared to its season margin at the same point last year. In fact, "World News" is posting its smallest news demo margin (227,000) with the NBC program in 5 years- since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 1.029 million Total Viewers and by 445,000 Adults 25-54.
