Matthew P. Akers, a theatrical specialist at Samuel French, Inc. has formed HOMOgenius Theatrics, LLC, a company that spotlights LGBTQ works through all mediums of art.

Four years ago, Matthew moved from Virginia to New York in order to pursue his dreams of bringing works dealing with LGBTQ themes to the Broadway stage. In 2010, Matthew joined Samuel French, where he continues to work as a theatrical specialist, licensing shows for non-professional productions, such as community theatres, high schools, and faith-based organizations. Among the over thousands of shows that Matthew has licensed are Grease, Our Town, The 39 Steps, La Cage Aux Folles, and Flames.

In 2013, Matthew formed HOMOgenius Theatrics, LLC, which he describes as "A theatrical company that is a space for love and acceptance. Through HOMOgenius, one has the opportunity to be self-expressed through art, music, film, and communication, which make all things possible." HOMOgenius has produced stage readings of The Secretaries by The Five Lesbian Brothers, and Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them by A. Rey Pamatmat.

HOMOgenius' next production will be Night of 1,000 Depressing-Ass Ballads by Vincent DiGeronimo. The production will be directed by Elizabeth Whitney. This theatrical event will be held on Friday, June 13th in the Gloria Maddox Theatre at T. Schreiber Studios & Theatre 151 W 26th St - Floor 7 New York, NY 10001.
