Phamaly Theatre Company's JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT Begins Tomorrow

Phamaly Theatre Company reprises "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" in celebration of the company's 25th Anniversary, July 10 - August 10 at the Space Theatre in the Denver Performing Arts Complex.

This is the irresistible family musical about the trials and triumphs of Joseph, Israel's favorite son. The first collaboration of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" blends pop, country and rock into an uplifting, technicolored story of biblical proportions. Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colors, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including "Those Canaan Days", "Any Dream Will Do" and "Close Every Door."

Leonard E. Barrett, Jr. returns as the Narrator, reprising the role he played in Phamaly's 2005 production. Other Phamaly performers who graced the stage in 2005 are Daniel Traylor, who played Judah and comes to this production in the role of Joseph; Don Mauck reprises his role as Reuben and Amber Marsh, once again, will play his wife. Jeremy Palmer returns in the role of Simeon, Lyndsay Palmer as Gad, Don Gabenski as Jacob, Kevin Pettit as Levi and Phamaly founder Kevin Ahl, joins the ensemble cast.

Steve Wilson has cast Trenton Schindele in the roles of Potiphar and Pharaoh, Laurice Quinn plays the wife of Potiphar and Asher; Stewart Caswell (Butler/ Isaacher), Mark Dissette (Baker/Napthali),Kim Jackson (Napthali's wife), Phillip Lomeo (Zebulun), Megan McGuire (Simeon's Wife), Molly Nash (Gad's Wife), Tatum Russo (Levi's Wife), James Sherman (Asher), Greg Stanley (Dan), Vicki Thiem (Judah's Wife), Leslie Wilburn (Benjamin), Shannon Wilson (Issacher's Wife and Kathi Wood (Judah).

Director Steve Wilson says, "This musical offers a poignant story about disenfranchisement. The concept of this staging will highlight a group of downtrodden players who will tell the tale as a means of escaping their spiritual and physical confinement. Like Joseph, the members of our company have also experienced a measure of misfortune. Some disabled from birth, some from accidents and some from illness. The central message of our company has always been one of creative advocacy for the recognition of the power and potential of this community in our society."

The Phamaly Theatre Company's production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" previews July 10 and 11 and opens on Saturday, July 12 in the Space Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; Sundays at 2:00 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 28. Tickets are $30 - $36 adult, $25 groups of 10 or more, and $20 for July 10 and 11 previews as well as the Friday, July 18 and (Industry Night) Monday, July 28 performances. Post show talk-backs follow the Sunday matinee performances. An Audio Described and ASL Signed performance is scheduled for Sunday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. Phamaly will offer a backstage sensory tour at 11:00a.m. The sensory tour brings individuals on stage for a tactile experience, touching elements of the set, costumes, and prop pieces. The tour is free but advance reservations are required by calling the Phamaly office at 303-365-0005.
