Original Cast, Creatives Reunite for 10th Anniversary of NYTW's SONGS FROM AN UNMADE BED Tonight at SubCulture

Original ensemble members, Michael Winther, Kimberly Grigsby, Shane Shanahan are joined by cellist, Peter Sachon as they reunite with Pulitzer prize-winning lyricist, Mark Campbell and many of the composers for a special one-night-only concert event, celebrating the ten year anniversary of Songs from an Unmade Bed, the critically acclaimed, theatrical song cycle originally produced off-Broadway by New York Theatre Workshop in 2005. It will be the first opportunity to hear this work in NYC in ten years! Come and hang out with us all after the performance.

One lyricist and 18 composers join forces to create a unique music/theatre event in 'Songs From an Unmade Bed, a solo work that propels a smart, resilient, wry and ultimately romantic gay New Yorker through the heartache and triumphs of love in the Big City. Mark Campbell's lyrics, on the endlessly surprising experience of urban romance, have been set by an eclectic roster of musical artists.

Michael Winther received nominations from the Drama Desk and Drama League for his critically acclaimed solo performance in Songs From An Unmade Bed at New York Theater Workshop directed by David Schweizer. The recording is available from Sh K Boom/Ghostlight Records and on iTunes and has garnered a devoted following since it's release. He will be collaborating with jazz composer, Fred Hersch and poet, Mary Jo Salter on Rooms of Light, a new song cycle which will premiere in October.

Michael has appeared on Broadway in 33 Variations, Mamma Mia!, 1776, Artist Descending a Staircase and Damn Yankees. Most recently, he starred in the Pulitzer Prize winning musical, Next To Normal, at Baltimore/Centerstage; Frank London and Neil Berger's A Night In The Old Marketplace in São Paulo; Tectonic's The Laramie Project Cycle at BAM/Harvey Theatre; Fred Hersch's multimedia jazz-theatre piece, My Coma Dreams in NYC, Berlin, San Francisco; Merrily We Roll Along at City Center Encores!. His regional credits include productions at Center Theatre Group, Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, The Guthrie, Yale Rep, McCarter Theater, Perseverance, Berkeley Rep, Goodspeed Musicals, Barringtion Stage, Sundance Theatre Lab, Theatreworks/Palo Alto, George Street Playhouse, Baltimore/Centerstage. His recent film credits include The Avengers, Jumper, The Break-Up, Mr. & Mrs. Smith; and television credits include "Boardwalk Empire," "Hostages," "Leverage" and "Law & Order."

He has appeared with Rob Kapilow in "What Makes It Great?" in major venues across the country, celebrating the songs of Sondheim, Arlen, Gershwin, Porter, Bernstein and Rodgers. Other concert credits include: four appearances as part of Lincoln Center's American Songbook series; Merkin Hall's Broadway Close Up series; Broadway Cabaret, Broadway By The Year and Broadway Unplugged series' at The Town Hall; many concerts with the New Voices Collective at Symphony Space; as well as concerts with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, with the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall. He has performed various solo evenings of music at 54 Below, Joe's Pub, Birdland, The Metropolitan Room and Ars Nova. Michael is a graduate of Williams College.

Other collaborations include My Life Is A Fairy Tale and Orphan of Zhao, both with lyrics & music by Stephin Merritt for Lincoln Center Festival; Telaio: Desdemona (by Susan Botti); and the premiere of Jeanine Tesori's The Lion, The Unicorn and Me for Washington National Opera. As a pianist, Kimberly has appeared in concert with Adam Guettel, Michael Winther, Duncan Sheik, Michael Friedman, Tonya Pinkins, Capathia Jenkins, Jose Llana, Jay Hunter Morris, and Maria Friedman. Ms. Grigsby holds degrees from Southern Methodist University and Manhattan School of Music.
