Bollywood is moving closer to Broadway! The new musical adaptation of the 2001 film MONSOON WEDDING is getting another developmental lab this winter, according to an Equity casting notice. The show had a private industry reading last December and will return to New York, running January 25 through February 25, 2016, with two new additions to its creative team.

Helmed by Mira Nair with associate director Sarna Lapine, MONSOON WEDDING welcomes music director Andy Einhorn (Bullets Over Broadway, Cinderella) and renowned choreographer Bill T. Jones (Fela!, Spring Awakening).

Screenwriter Sabrina Dhawan wrote the book, and the musical features a score by Vishal Bhardwaj and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead.

MONSOON WEDDING follows "a stressed father, a bride-to-be with a secret, a smitten event planner, and relatives from around the world during preparations for an arranged marriage in India."

Margo Lion, Stephen Hendel and Colin Callender are producing with general manager Roy Gabay and casting directors Cindy Tolan and Adam Caldwell on the hunt for a company of South Asian actors.
