One show closes, another starts rehearsals, and a few fireworks in between! Here is guest blogger Casey Hebbel to fill you in with the latest during our 2016 season of Broadway Under the Stars...

Can you believe it is already July!? How did that happen? I am thinking back to when I arrived on May 16th and cannot believe how quickly the time is flying by. Already, the first show is behind us!

This past Sunday we closed THIS MAGIC MOMENT and said farewell to the magical group of artists who brought that show to life. It is always so sad to see a cast leave, but I know that we will all keep pieces of each other with us in our hearts.

Our closing weekend of performances was just electric. Everyone gave everything they had up there on that stage... and then gave a little bit more! The audiences were right there with us; if you were there, THANK YOU for making us feel like rockstars! What a way to close out the first show of the season.

Then there was the 4th of July, which, by the way, Sonoma really does right! The FANTASTICAL FAMILY NIGHT cast (who arrived last week and are all AMAZING souls and talents) marched in the awesome parade in town! Then the Transcendence Team was hosted at a beautiful party at the home of a few of our sponsors for what is called The Legacy Party.

We were thrilled to share a bit of music under the trees.

We are always so grateful to get to spend time with the people who make Transcendence possible. The Sonoma community is so very generous and this gathering was another beautiful example of that generosity. We are so lucky to call Sonoma our home!

On Tuesday this week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with the local radio host of Curtain Call on KRCB, Charles Sepos, for an interview. You can catch the radio interview on this Sunday's broadcast of Curtain Call which airs from 10am-11am on KRCB Sonoma County Public Radio!

We talked about the upcoming shows for the season, and particularly focused on FANTASTICAL FAMILY NIGHT and Transcendence Kids Camp, which starts next week! As you may recall, my job includes the title of Education Coordinator... which basically means I am bursting at the seams with excitement because on Monday, sixty kiddos from age 8-18 will be starting camp!!

Here are some fabulous kids from last year's camp... we can't wait to meet The New Group coming next week!

For one week an amazing team of teaching artists (who also happen to be the crazy-talented cast of FFN) will work with these campers on singing, dancing, songwriting, visual art, and how to be their best selves. It is most definitely my most favorite (and the most exhausting) week of the entire summer! The energy that these kids bring with them, their zest for life, their enthusiasm for living, is an incredible reminder of how we all should be every single day! We are so jazzed!!

As always, there is so much happening, and every day with Transcendence is a day well lived! Everything is all a buzz with the excitement of upcoming FANTASTICAL FAMILY NIGHT and Kids Camp and we hope to see you out at the park next weekend to witness the magic first-hand!
