ATONEMENT Trailer Released Ahead of Chichester Festival Theatre World Premiere
Christopher Hampton's adaptation stars Miriam Petche and Jasper Talbot in a strictly limited run.
Chichester Festival Theatre has released a trailer for its upcoming world premiere stage production of ATONEMENT, offering audiences a first look at the highly anticipated adaptation ahead of its opening later this month. The clip draws viewers into the story's atmosphere of longing and consequence, anchored by the haunting lines "It's our secret. I love you. Come back."
ATONEMENT is drawn from Ian McEwan's celebrated novel of the same name, which follows the devastating ripple effects of a young girl's false accusation across decades of war, separation, and guilt. Christopher Hampton, the acclaimed playwright and screenwriter, has adapted the novel for the stage, translating McEwan's intricate narrative structure into a theatrical form. The production stars Miriam Petche and Jasper Talbot in leading roles.
The world premiere runs for a strictly limited engagement at Chichester Festival Theatre from Friday, 29 May through Saturday, 20 June, with tickets available from £15. The production marks one of the most significant literary adaptations the venue has mounted in recent seasons, continuing Chichester's tradition of staging ambitious new work drawn from major British fiction.
BroadwayWorld previously reported on the full cast announcement for ATONEMENT, which also noted that Siân Phillips had stepped back from her role as the older Briony Tallis, with Jessica Turner now set to take on the part.
