Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, Colman Domingo, Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett e molti altri hanno vinto premi lo scorso fine settimana alla 57ª edizione dei NAACP Image Awards. Presentata da Deon Cole, la serata ha celebrato il meglio della cultura nera, onorando leader e creativi in campo di intrattenimento, advocacy e cultura.
Cynthia Erivo ha vinto come Migliore Attrice in un Film per la sua interpretazione di Elphaba in Wicked: For Good. Il film stesso è stato nominato per il Miglior Film, Miglior Cast d'insieme, e Miglior Colonna Sonora, tra gli altri. Altri nominati di rilievo includevano Wicked: One Wonderful Night della NBC, Audra McDonald per The Gilded Age, e Patina Miller per Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
Colman Domingo ha ricevuto il President’s Award in riconoscimento di risultati speciali e servizio pubblico distintivo, mentre Viola Davis ha ricevuto il Chairman’s Award, che onora individui che eccellono nel servizio pubblico e usano le loro piattaforme per ispirare e promuovere cambiamenti significativi.
