When Anne Whateley arrives at Grey Gambrels, she’s a bit of a surprise to Matthew and Marilla Armitage, the bachelor brother and spinster sister who had planned to purchase a boy urchin as indentured labour. Unbeknownst to the old siblings, Anne nurtures an evil entity from another realm, with the purpose of destroying the world and delivering it to ancient gods to rule.
Generations of readers have fallen in love with L.M. Montgomery’s timeless tale about the red-headed orphan and her adventures in Avonlea. Generations of other, totally different readers have shuddered at Lovecraft’s tale of cosmic horrors unleashed on the isolated town of Dunwich.
