Spirited Away at Princess of Wales Theatre, Toronto

TOHO's stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Oscar-winning animated film, performed in Japanese with English surtitles by a company of 50 actors, puppeteers, and musicians. The production is directed and co-adapted by Olivier and Tony Award-winning director John Caird, with co-adaptor Maoko Imai, set design by Jon Bausor, puppets by Toby Olié, choreography by Shigehiro Ide, and costumes by Sachiko Nakahara. The story follows Chihiro, who stumbles into a world of fantastic spirits ruled by the sorceress Yubaba and must use her wits to free her parents and return home. The production won Best New Play at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards and received four Olivier Award nominations following its acclaimed London run.
