Gimeno + Dvořák’s “New World” at Toronto Symphony Orchestra

A convergence of old and new worlds inspired something truly special in Dvoks soul-stirring New World Symphony, in which he drew upon the musical traditions that so impressed him during his time in America, along with the vibrant folk melodies of his own Czech homeland. Youll also hear Martins evocative The Rock, mid-20th century music similarly inspired by the opportunity of a new world. A World Premire from Toronto-based composer Luis Ramirez opens the concert, and Berlin Philharmonic Principal Horn Stefan Dohr gives the Canadian Premire of Abrahamsens Horn Concerto, which was written especially for him.
