DANCER: A Musical in Ten Furlongs at Terminal Theatre at Queen's Quay Terminal

DANCER is an original musical based on the true story of Northern Dancer, the underdog thoroughbred who became the first Canadian horse to win the Kentucky Derby in 1964. The show features book and lyrics by Jim Betts, music by Marek Norman, music direction by Mark Camilleri, and direction and choreography by Emmy-nominated Stacey Tookey. The cast includes Barbara Barsky as Winnie Taylor, Sterling Jarvis as Bill Brevard, Sam Rosenthal as Daryl, Tyler Murree as E.P. Taylor, and Keanu Uchida as Northern Dancer, who brings the character to life entirely through movement. Rather than using costumes or puppetry to represent horses, the production employs an original contemporary choreographic language that merges traditional musical theatre choreography with stunning contemporary dance.
