Islander follows Arran and Eilidh as they confront ancient fractures, their ever-changing communities and the mystical powers of the land and sea. The genre-bending musical is brought to life by Georgia Laga'aia and Rebecca Ordiz, with loop-pedal technology. This all-new Australian version recontextualizes the story to explore Australian-Pacific identity and the impact of climate change, developed with creative cultural consultant Gabriel Faatau'uu-Satiu, and translates one of the songs to Samoan. Islander was originally produced in the UK in 2018 before an acclaimed off-Broadway season and international touring.
