SANDT Legacy of Dance Gala at Artscape Opera House

Martha Graham's Diversion of Angels will be performed for the first time ever in South Africa, danced by the WGRUV company and featuring Lorenzo Pagano, Resident Rehearsal Director of the Martha Graham Dance Company in New York. Dutch National Ballet stars Maia Makhateli and Jan Špunda will perform the Swan Lake Act III pas de deux and Embers, choreographed by Ernst Meisner. The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Brandon Phillips, will accompany the Gala, which also features dancers from Cape Town City Ballet, Joburg Ballet, Cape Ballet Africa, Jazzart Dance Theatre, LAMTA, Waterfront Theatre School and the SAIBC. The grand finale, choreographed by Sean Bovim and set to Queen's Barcelona, brings together soprano Busisiwe Ngejane and pop singer Warren Vernon-Driscoll.
