As BroadwayWorld sadly reported yesterday, stage star Phyllis Newman passed away yesterday, September 15, at the age of 86. Newman got her start in show business at 4 years old imitating Carmen Miranda in theatres and clubs. Her portrayal of Martha Vail in the Jule Styne/Comden and Green musical Subways Are For Sleeping - costumed only in a bath towel - earned her a Tony Award. Her other Broadway credits include Bells Are Ringing, The Apple Tree, On the Town, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, Awake and Sing, Wish You Were Here, First Impressions, and her one-woman musical The Madwoman of Central Park West, which she co-authored with Arthur Laurents. She garnered a Tony Award nomination for her highly-acclaimed performance in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound.

Ahead of press night on Tuesday 21 May, new production photos have been released of Louise Jameson and Thomas Mahy in VINCENT RIVER by Philip Ridley, directed by Robert Chevara, at Trafalgar Studios 16th May - 22nd June.

New Dramatists, Tony® Honor recipient and the nation's premier playwright development laboratory, just honored Tony®and Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington at its 69th Annual Spring Luncheon tribute. Washington, currently starring on Broadway in The Iceman Cometh, directed by George C. Wolfe, received New Dramatists' 2018 Distinguished Achievement Award. Tributes to Mr. Washington and performances were presented by three-time Grammy Award-winner Branford Marsalis with bassist Noah Jackson, Tony®Award-winners George C. Wolfe and Stephen McKinley Henderson, Constanza Romero (August Wilson Estate), and Pulitzer Prize finalist and New Dramatists resident playwright Kristoffer Diaz (The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity).

Actors' Equity Association just presented Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 with the ninth annual "ACCA" Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. Presented by Equity's Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA), the ACCA Award is the only industry accolade of its kind to honor the distinctive talents and contributions made by the original chorus members of a Broadway musical.

As we previously reported, Roger Rees, the legendary, Tony Award-winning actor, and Tony Award nominated director, passed away last night at his home in New York City, after a brief journey with cancer. His husband,Rick Elice, and family and friends were at his side.

Santino Fontana, 2013 Tony Award nominee for Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Cinderella), visited students of Broadway Artists Alliance Junior Summer Intensive on July 9th. Fontana spoke of his start in school plays all the way to his Broadway career. Fontana relayed some words of wisdom during a Q&A, answering questions ranging from memorizing all those lines to the process of making Frozen.

Don't Quit Your Night Job recently returned to New York City at its new home, 54 Below. Peter and the Starcatcher, the five-time Tony® Award-winning play by Rick Elice, celebrates the 10th annual International Talk Like a Pirate Day today, September 19th, with a special "Stache Day" in honor of their own pirate, Black Stache. This morning, the first 100 fans in line at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street) with mustaches (real or fake!) received one free ticket for this evening's performance. S. Eliot's profound exploration of self deception and redemption, at a special event titled 'A T.S. Eliot Cocktail: An Evening of Scenes and Poetry' held on Tuesday, March 2nd at Barnes & Noble (2289 Broadway @ 82nd Street). The event, free and open to the public, provided an insightful look at the life and work of one of the world's most revered writers.

DON'T QUIT YOUR NIGHT JOB, featuring a revolving cast of Broadway's brightest performing without a net, took it home for Thanksgiving at The Zipper Factory Theater (336 West 37th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues) on Thursday, November 20 at 11:30pm.

Four Chairs Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of 'What To Do When You Hate All Your Friends', an anti-social comedy written by award-winning playwright Larry Kunofsky and directed by Jacob Krueger (The Matthew Shepard Story). Performances will run from July 19 to August 9, 2008 at The Lion Theatre on Theatre Row, located at 410 West 42 Street between 9 & 10 Avenues in NYC. Previews begin July 19 for an official July 24 opening.

The Dicapo Children's Chorus performs two concerts and a fully staged music revue each season.
