It's a marriage committed to musical excellence. Jazz trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos says of his wife Lorraine, 'She's a classically trained guitarist, and her practice can be intimidating at times.' That helps motivate him to practice more, usually four or five hours a day. But she has said, his practicing inspires her to practice more because she feels guilty if she doesn't. Fortunately for the couple, and perhaps the neighbors, they both have successful careers that prevent them from escalating into a friendly, but potentially fatal, competition.

Continuing its cross-country tour, John Strand's critically-acclaimed political drama The Originalist, based on the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, will play at 59E59 Theaters under the direction of Artistic Director Molly Smith.

Uptown Players, a professional theater group located in the Uptown area of Dallas, has announced its 2018-2019 season at the Kalita Humphreys Theater and Moody Performance Hall. The season will feature the regional premieres of the 2017 Drama Desk nominated musical, The View Upstairs, a new comedy from the writer of NBC's Emmy-nominated hit "This is Us", The Cake, plus the world premiere of a special holiday tribute, A Very Judy Christmas. Also in the season lineup are the hilarious 2016 Broadway musical, Disaster!, and the Tony Award-winning Musical Spring Awakening, which will be presented at Moody Performance Hall. Rounding out its 2018-2019 season is its annual fundraising production, Broadway Our Way, also at Moody Performance Hall and the previously announced production of Angels In America Part Two: Perestroika.

For football fans across the globe, all roads lead to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, now taking place in Russia. Mark Cortale, Producing Artistic Director of Provincetown's internationally known Art House theater, has announced that he has begun to search for a new summer location for 2019. Cortale learned last week that the twin 120-seat theaters at The Art House will be gutted by the property owner after the current summer season due to restaurant expansion plans. The news comes on the heels of seven consecutive seasons of remarkable success; thriving outposts of its famed 'Broadway @' music series in major venues across the country and abroad; and the recent announcement of its largest lineup of Broadway, comedy and music stars yet for its P-Town home.

Marquee Productions, a company founded by Rodrigo Marques hosts this up and coming cabaret series. The company was founded in 2013 and has been gathering talented performers and outstanding artists from all over the world. Before founding Marquee Productions in New York, Mr. Marques has already established his career in performing, directing, and producing in Brazil. In this country, he founded Grito Theatre Co. that has been awarded 'Best Theatre Company in South Brazil' four times by the Brazilian Actor's Equity Association.

Free For All, one of the capital's cherished annual traditions, will return this summer to Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), offering two weeks of free performances of the Company's 2016 production of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. Directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul, whose hit production of Camelot has extended through July 8 due to popular demand, the production will run at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F St NW) from August 21-September 2, providing more than 12,000 people the chance to see the play free of charge.

The Ford Theatres presents Lula Washington Dance Theatre (LWDT) today, June 8 at 8:30pm, as part of its IGNITE @ the FORD! series. For this joyous evening of dance, the Ford Theatres has brought together three renowned choreographers - Kyle Abraham, Rennie Harris and David Rousseve - to set works on one of Los Angeles's most beloved contemporary dance companies, LWDT, alongside pieces by the esteemed Lula Washington and Tamica Washington-Miller. This performance is taking place in recognition of the 2018 Dance/USA Annual Conference, the country's broadest gathering of dance professionals, from June 6-9 in Los Angeles.

The Acting Company announces the full cast of its one-night-only benefit reading of The Night of the Iguana, Tennessee Williams' feverishly poetic 1961 drama,at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues), on Monday, June 11.

On June 5, 2018, the Fulton Theatre launches The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the theatre's season finale and biggest production of the 2017/2018 season.  The Hunchback of Notre Dame will also be one of the largest shows in the theatre's one hundred sixty six year history.
