CUNY TV's ARTS IN THE CITY, hosted by New York entertainment reporter Pat Collins, goes on location to Sardi's Restaurant in Times Square to assemble key principals responsible for the success of Broadway's 'Kinky Boots.' In Kinky Boots - The Road to Broadway, premiering Friday, January 10 (2014) on CUNY TV, the cast and creators recount the musical's genesis - from a 2005 indie film to a winner of six Tony Awards, including 'Best Musical.'

Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig have announced new leads for their smash hit musical Kinky Boots; Andy Kelso, who currently plays 'Harry', will take over the role of 'Charlie Price' on January 28, 2014 following Stark Sands' January 26 departure. Jeanna de Waal will join the cast as 'Lauren,' beginning March 4, 2014 (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's 'Masters of Sex'), and Jake Odmark joins the ensemble in the roles previously played by Andy Kelso. As previously announced, Billy Porter, this year's Tony Award-winner for Best Actor in a Musical, will remain with Kinky Boots.

In his column for The Huffington Post last night, Jujamcyn Theaters president Jordan Roth addressed several issues having to do with blinding ourselves to experiences and realities that we don't want to see. Roth zeroed in on KINKY BOOTS' recent Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performance, which prompted a backlash on Twitter. The responses ranged from supportive to downright nasty, but the most common reaction was from concerned parents who would now have to explain men in drag to their children.

Billy Porter, this year's Tony Award-winner for Best Actor in a Musical, has extended his contract in Kinky Boots, producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today; Porter will remain with the show at least through July 2014. They also announced that Natalie Joy Johnson (Legally Blonde) will join the cast of the smash hit musical, taking over for Tory Ross on December 23, 2013.

Annaleigh Ashford will be kicking off her KINKY BOOTS and slinking into the bedroom. Deadline reports that the Broadway star has nabbed a regular role on Showtime's MASTERS OF SEX season 2.

As a response to some nasty tweets in reaction to the Kinky Boots Macy's Thanksgiving Parade performance, stars Billy Porter and Stark Sands went shopping in between shows in their Finale costumes at Macy's for Black Friday.
