The Weather Channel announced today that it has greenlit 'Hacking the Planet,' a new series that tracks the fascinating work of scientists developing ways to prevent, weaken or redirect threatening weather conditions and natural phenomena including tornadoes, hurricanes, lightning, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions. Produced by Castle Pictures, Inc., 'Hacking the Planet' features 6x 30-minute episodes and will premiere Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

The GRAMMY Foundation® (www.grammyfoundation.org) today announced that 129 schools nationwide have been selected as GRAMMY® Signature Schools semifinalists (www.grammyintheschools.com) for 2013. Created in 1998, the GRAMMY Signature Schools program recognizes top U.S. public high schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year.

Today, Decca Records/Universal Music releases Voice From Assisi, the recording debut from Franciscan Friar, Alessandro Brustenghi.
The Silverlake Conservatory of Music announced that its founder, Red Hot Chili Pepper's bassist Flea, and bandmate/front-man Anthony Kiedis will host an event to benefit the school today, October 16, 2012 at Flea's house in Los Angeles. Oh yeah, it's also Flea's birthday.
Decca Records/Universal Music announces the global signing of Franciscan Friar, Alessandro Brustenghi, from the original friary founded by Saint Francis of Assisi: the Porziuncola in Assisi. Alessandro is the first Friar in the history to land a major record deal. Voice From Assisi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od9BnmYuKZ8 is a mix of traditional and modern sacred songs, including an original track by Royal Wedding composer Paul Mealor, set to a prayer written by St Francis of Assisi. When musing on his relationship with music, Friar Alessandro stated "God's gift was in my heart. When I woke up in the morning in my heart I heard melodies".

Trigger Creative, in association with The Present Company, as part of the 16th Annual New York International Fringe Festival, presents the World-premiere REDlight - documentarian Ryan Kipp's journey into the loves, lives and loses of the performers and patrons of one of Atlanta's most notorious gay strip clubs, as viewed through the eyes of a heterosexual dancer at the club - Mr. Kipp himself. REDlight is directed by Jennifer Tuttle and Marc Santa Maria, with choreography by Carol Johnson.
