The Dee Buchanan Studio of Dance and Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre and Children's Theatre will present a free concert A Magical Musical Adventure on Sunday, July 20 at 7 pm, on the Knight Stage at Middletown High School. Forty-one local dancers ranging in age from 3 to 18 will perform together to raise money for Team Sydni. The concert features many of well-loved fairy tale characters, and includes a variety of song-and-dance styles. There is no charge for admission. Free-will donations will be accepted at the door, and during intermission the dancers' parents have organized a basket raffle, which includes donations from many Middletown merchants in an effort to further help Sydni. This is the second annual summer production of the Dee Buchanan Studio and Way Off Broadway. Last year's concert raised over $2,600 to help another local student, TJ Rufty.

Singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, fresh from performing at the Bowl the night before in the jazz concert, To Ella with Love, joins the program to sing favorite Gershwin tunes. She replaces Megan Hilty, who was forced to cancel due to scheduling conflicts.
A public memorial will be held for Ruby Dee, the legendary actress and civil rights activist, who passed away on June 11. The Terrie Williams Agency told NBC that they will be celebrating Dee's life and her many accomplishments on September 20 at the Riverside Church in New York. This is the same place where Martin Luther King Jr. spoke against the Vietnam war and others, such as Nelson Mandela and Cesar Chavez, have spoken.
Twisted Sister frontman, Dee Snider, attended Rock of Ages Friday evening, June 27 at The Venetian Las Vegas. Snider, who performed the role of "Dennis Dupree" in Rock of Ages during a three-month stint on Broadway in 2010, headed backstage following the show to share words of enthusiasm with the cast and to take a photo. Get swept away by an all-star cast in Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's lush production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, which runs August 5 through 9 at the Civic Center Music Hall. The show, which features the popular song "Send in the Clowns", stars Broadway's own Dee Hoty and George Dvorsky. Called "heady, civilized, sophisticated and enchanting" by the New York Times, Lyric's production is directed by artistic director Michael Baron and includes an original scenic design, new costumes, and a full orchestra.
