Adventure Theatre MTC received $250,000 in Maryland legislative bond funding for theatre and lobby renovations at its Glen Echo location, and launched a matching campaign targeting an additional $250,000 for its 75th anniversary season.

The 36th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Awards Program will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 6 p.m. at the Casino Live Hotel Ballroom in Hanover, Md. Dignitaries attending will include Maryland Governor Wes Moore, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman John Sarbanes, County Executive Steuart Pittman, and Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. The keynote speaker will be Congressman Jonathan Jackson, the youngest son of Rev. Jesse Jackson and godson to Dr. King. Governor Moore will also provide comments at the event.

Today, D23, the official Disney fan club, has announced the eleven recipients for the 2019 Disney Legends Award. This year's recipients are Bette Midler, Wing Chao, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, James Earl Jones, Kenny Ortega, Barnette Ricci, Robin Roberts, Diane Sawyer, Ming-Na Wen, and Hans Zimmer.

Anchored by his still-powerful vocals and immense talent, Starship - the band he has starred in through multiple iterations, continues to soar. This year's competition jury will be headed by Gabrielle Tana, Dick Fontaine and Barbara Albert as Jury Presidents. ZFF screens first, second and third directorial works in the three competition categories International Feature Film, International Documentary Film and Focus: Switzerland, Germany, Austria. A separate independent jury of experts will judge the films in each of the three categories and award their Golden Eye during the Award Night at Zurich Opera House on Saturday, October 6.

Now entering its 56th season, the New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) is launching a Musical Theater Composition (MTC) program, to be led by newly-appointed director Anna K. Jacobs. In a partnership with the Harlem School of the Arts, this new program aims to diversify the world of musical theater by creating opportunities for young composers to have their compositions workshopped and performed by both peers and professionals.
