As the celebrations, performances, and successes of The Cleveland Orchestra's Centennial Season continue toward its conclusion this spring, the Orchestra has announced details of its 101st season for 2018-2019. Aspects of the celebratory spirit continues - with a 100th Birthday concert in July for the Cleveland community and Centennial Gala in September. The new season also extends the dedicated week-to-week work, creativity, and artistry required to continue being one of the world's best orchestras year after year.

2018 Pyeongchang Olympics 2/20 Primetime Highlights

NBC Olympics began its primetime coverage of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics tonight on NBC and NBCSN. Mike Tirico made his debut as NBC Olympics primetime host and opened coverage on NBC, while Liam McHugh anchored coverage on NBCSN. Tonight's coverage was highlighted by:

Likewise, the 11 women featured in the nudie calendar certainly raised eyebrows, even among the liberal folks; however, the women also raised £2million for leukaemia research and their publicity stunt spawned a hit movie starring Helen Mirren. The movie spawned a stage play, CALENDAR GIRLS.

Camden People's Theatre are breaking out the c-word with a new fortnight-long festival of works that asks questions about class. In August 2017, a Labour party report criticised working-class under-representation in the arts, and demanded the cultural sector work harder to fill the "class-shaped hole" in their audience and workforce.

Broadway's Kate Shindle---currently traveling the country playing Allison Bechdel in the first national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical FUN HOME---is not only an accomplished singer, actor and dancer, she is also a published author and an outspoken activist. In 2015, Shindle was also elected president of Actors' Equity Association. It is nearly impossible not to be emotionally affected by the events depicted in PARADE, the stirring, Tony Award-winning 1998 musical inspired by shocking actual events surrounding the trial of a man accused of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl. It's certainly a heavy, morose subject to wrap an entire musical around, which is probably why PARADE is so rarely produced, despite its high-caliber book by Alfred Uhry and gorgeous music by Jason Robert Brown. The primary focus of Composers & the Voice is to give emerging composers and librettists experience working collaboratively with singers on writing for the voice and contemporary opera stage.
