In May, New Conservatory Theatre Center is thrilled to present Max Vernon's The View UpStairs, directed by NCTC Founder & Artistic Director Ed Decker with musical direction by Kelly Crandell. When impulsive entrepreneur Wes buys a dilapidated building in the French Quarter of New Orleans, he's magically transported to its glory days: the UpStairs Lounge in 1973. Serving as a home, a church, and a gay dive-bar, the UpStairs was its own kind of paradise. As Wes meets the larger than life lounge regulars, he learns what has been gained and lost in the fight for equality, and how the past can help guide all of us through an uncertain future.

Inspired by the world-renowned Fisk Jubilee Singers, this uplifting new work chronicles the bold African American ensemble as they travel the world, captivating kings, queens and audiences with hymns and spiritual songs supported by their rich voices. Written and directed by Thompson with vocal arrangements and music direction by Dianne Adams McDowell, Jubilee runs April 26 - June 2, 2019 in the Kreeger Theater.

Stewart (Broadway, National Tour, and Regional: The Color Purple) will play The Voice of the River in the world premiere production of Tori Sampson's If Pretty Hurts Ugly Must Be a Muhf**ka, directed by Obie winner Leah C. Gardiner (Born Bad) and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly. Performances begin Today, February 15, and continue through March 31 in the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). The production opens officially on the evening of Sunday, March 10.

After a critically acclaimed run in Philadelphia last summer, RuPaul's Drag Race Star Mimi Imfurst will return as Hedwig in reTHEATER's production of John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's gender bending rock musical HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH. The production was nominated for a 2018 Barrymore Awatd and The Philadelphia Inquirer hailed Imfurst as giving 'a performance worthy of a rock star, at once weepy and melodramatic and infused with the fury and angst of long-endured sorrow.' It will be presented for one night only: Today, February 15 at 7pm at The Laurie Beechman Theatre (inside West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street -- at Ninth Avenue). Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce dates and casting for the New York premiere of Mara Nelson-Greenberg's DO YOU FEEL ANGER?, directed by Margot Bordelon.
