Approximately 330 miles…That's how far Havana, Cuba is from Miami, Florida. Within that space lies a distance of less than an hour. However, to some people it might as well be a lifetime away. I remember all my childhood being told about what Cuba used to be by my grandparents. As a third generation Cuban American living in Miami, Florida, as soon as we start to crawl, you are hearing about the good ole days before Fidel Castro stole Cuba from the people - people who still long for home. So I was thrilled to research into AMPARO. This one of a kind immersive theater experience is based on the compelling, true story of an immigrant family's triumph through exile. From present-day Miami to 1957-Cuba, where you will follow cast members through the Cuban Revolution, bearing witness to the story of the Arechabala family--founders of THE REAL HAVANA CLUB rum.

Hallelujah! The Highwood Theatre's 16th Season veers off on a joyously irreverent course in a special production of David Javerbaum's An Act of God. The story is simple: God makes a grand return to earth to answer the burning questions of mankind - how else to do that than by rewriting the Ten Commandments? Prepare to experience the unearthly funny comedy in Highwood's singularly spectacular new production. Choosing from a pool of rotating actors - from Highwood Staff, students, and Board members to special guest artists - including Broadway talent Henry Gottfried (Waitress) - audiences will vote to determine who plays God and his loyal archangels at every performance.

In 2018, the idea for #ComeTogether was sparked. Much of the inspiration for this project stems from an incomplete American Songbook-many voices are missing and stories are unheard. In lieu of our current political climate, we are deeply struck by the hostility aimed at dividing our country and turning Americans against one another. Art is and always has been a uniting force. NASO's weapons of choice: word and melody.

Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson's 2015 musical adaptation of Adrienne Shelly's film, about a small-town waitress who processes her feelings via her skilful baking, brings its sugar and spice mixture to the West End. The result is a tasty treat - albeit with the odd ill-mixed ingredient. Hollywood Handshakes all round.
