"You Can't Take it With You" introduces us to the freethinking Sycamore Family and the mayhem that ensues when their daughters fiancé brings his conservative, straight-laced parents to dinner on the wrong night.

No mention is made of the strange activities in the basement; nor of the printing press set up in the parlor, or why a visiting Grand Duchess is working as a waitress.

The cast includes Michael Grant (Grandpa Martin Vanderhof), Kathleen Gruman (Penny Sycamore), Hillary Menke (Alice Sycamore), Scott Rochat (Paul Sycamore), Robin Berl (Essie Carmichael), Avery Anderson (Ed Carmichael), Michelle Jacobs (Mr. De Pinna), Richard J. Ortner (Boris Kolenkhov), Sesugh Solomon Tor-Agbidye (Tony Kirby), Mark Lewis (Mr. Kirby), Nancy Patton (Mrs. Kirby), Aria Maniak (Rheba), Aaron Bilek (Donald), Brie Michaels (The Grand Duchess), Dimas Hornbuckle (Mr. Henderson), Kristy Gomez (Gay Wellington) and Kelly Jorgenson, Julie Marino, Kim Bubon as the Three Federal Agents.

Michael Grant (Grandpa) started at CU in 1974 after earning his doctorate at Duke University. He was Associate Vice-Provost for Undergraduate Education and Professor of Biology. After a stellar career of 42 years he retired in 2016 as Vice-Provost, Emeritus. He makes his stage debut with Moon Theatre Company!

The original production of "You Can't Take It With You" opened at the Booth Theatre on Dec. 14, 1936, and played for 837 performances. The play won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Moss Hart teamed up with Broadway veteran George S. Kaufman and during the next decade wrote a string of successes, including You Can't Take It with You (1936) and The Man Who Came to Dinner (1939). "You Can't Take It With You" won the 2015 Drama League and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Revival of a Play.

Moon Theatre Company was formed in 2009 by a group of passionate actors, writers and directors with the goal of creating performance opportunities for like-minded individuals in the area and entertainment opportunities for the public.
