In an evening of deeply expressive repertoire, the Utah Symphony brings Sibelius' Fifth Symphony to Abravanel Hall celebrating the human spirit of resilience and capacity for renewal. Two evening concerts will take place this weekend, Friday, April 21 at 7:30 PM and Saturday, April 22 with an earlier performance time of 5:30 PM, at Abravanel Hall in downtown Salt Lake City.

The New York Youth Symphony has announced that Michael Thomas has been appointed Director of the NYYS Jazz program, beginning with 2023/24 season. Mr. Thomas follows Andy Clausen, who will step down from his position at the end of the 2022/23 season after seven seasons. Mr. Thomas is no stranger to innovation himself.

PYO Music Institute (PYOMI) and its partners will continue recognizing outstanding music teachers through the 10th Annual Ovation Award. This award recognizes inspiration and leadership in music education. For over ten years, hundreds of current and former music students have shown appreciation for their music teachers through Ovation Award submissions. Beginning on March 6, 2023, current and former students of all ages are invited to nominate “the music teacher who changed my life” in a 250-word essay.
