Prysm Strings, the beginner-intermediate string music education program of Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Music Institute (PYOMI), will perform in their new home—Church of the Redeemer (200 Pennswood Road, Bryn Mawr, PA)—for the first time on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 3 p.m.

Ushering in their first concert of the season, Tune Up Philly (TUP), a program of the PYO Music Institute (PYOMI), directed by Paul Smith, will take the stage on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 1 p.m. in the Temple Performing Arts Center, located at 1837 N. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA.

The two evening concerts will take place Friday and Saturday, January 27 and 28, at Abravanel Hall in downtown Salt Lake City. In addition, the Utah Symphony will also perform two dynamic pieces—Joshua Cerdenia's Feuertrunken (Fire-Drunk) and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite (1919).

Vanguard University's department of theatre arts will present the musical adaptation of the 1940's Christmas movie classic, Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn. The production is presented in the Lyceum Theater on the Vanguard University campus, beginning November 18th, 2022 and running three weekends through December 11th.

Musical theatre composer Lucy Simon, best known for The Secret Garden and Doctor Zhivago, has passed away from metastatic breast cancer.

Thomas “Fats” Waller, a pioneer in jazz piano, was a prolific composer, writing over 400 songs in his lifetime, with hits like “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “Honeysuckle Rose” even making it into the Grammy Hall of Fame. So, it is no surprise that in 1978 a Broadway Musical, AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ premiered featuring dozens of Waller’s songs and a cast of five African American actors, including a young Andre de Shields (HADESTOWN) and the late, great Nell Carter who won a Tony Award for her performance. Since its premiere, AIN’T MISBEHAVIN’ has lived on, thrilling audiences all around the world including the latest production at the Titusville Playhouse in Titusville, FL – an energetic and electric production that sizzles from beginning to end.

Featuring “When You Wish Upon a Star,” “I’ve Got No Strings” and “Hi Diddle Dee Dee” (“The Actor’s Life”)—the filmmakers included additional songs in their live action version. Oscar nominees Alan Silvestri, who composed the film’s background score and has teamed with Zemeckis on 19 films, and Glen Ballard collaborated on the new original songs.

On Monday, October 3, 2022 the multiple Grammy award-winning conductor, JoAnn Falletta, will conduct the Buffalo Philharmonic in their return to Carnegie Hall for a tribute to Lukas Foss, in honor of his 100th birthday (August 15, 1922 – Feb 1, 2009). Presented by Trinity Wall Street and Opus 3 Artists, the 7pm concert is a gift to New York City with free admission.
