Following a review of new audience research carried out on behalf of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Matilda The Musical it is announced today that from 12 September all evening weekday performances of the award-winning musical will begin at 7pm (Tuesday-Friday).

Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra's (LACO) 50th Anniversary season concludes with guest conductor Grant Gershon leading the world premiere of Derrick Spiva Jr.'s From Here A Path, the second part of a trilogy for chamber orchestra, and Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-Flat Major, featuring noted cellist and classical music innovator Joshua Roman, today, May 19, 8 pm, at Glendale's Alex Theatre, and Sunday, May 20, 2018, 7 pm, at Royce Hall.  In addition, Concertmaster Margaret Batjer leads from the first chair both Vivaldi's Concerto Grosso in D Minor, the first work ever performed when LACO launched 50 years ago, and Mozart's Symphony No. 39 in E-Flat Major, which wraps the Orchestra's exploration this season of the composer's final three symphonies.  Spiva, describing his work, says, "From Here A Path draws inspiration from Husago, a West African piece from Ghana's Ewe people that includes drumming, dancing and singing, kaval flute playing from Eastern Europe and elements of Hindustani classical music.  The title references the momentum and resistance one gathers to reach a point."

Grab your sunscreen and head down south for the Chillin' on the Lucie music festival in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Oct. 3 - 7. Headlining will be country icon, Wynonna, with her band The Big Noise, and hit-maker Joe Nichols, with two more to be announced. RaeLynn, Thompson Square, Craig Campbell, Restless Heart, Love and Theft, Trent Tomlinson, Scooter Brown Band and Southern Halo are also scheduled to perform at the festival, with more acts to be announced. It has just been announced that stars Ana Gasteyer as ("Miss Hannigan') and Megan Hilty ("Lily St. Regis.") have joined the cast of the upcoming Hollywood Bowl production of ANNIE, which will take place Friday, July 27, at 8 pm, Saturday, July 28, at 8 pm, and Sunday, July 29, at 7:30 pm. 

Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece Long Day's Journey Into Night  comes to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts for a limited three-week engagement from Friday, June 8 through Sunday, July 1. Richard Eyre's acclaimed Bristol Old Vic production stars Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons(Brideshead Revisited, Reversal of Fortune,  'The Borgias') and Olivier Award winner and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville(Another Year,  'Harlots,' Phantom Thread). Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game, The Riot Club), Rory Keenan (BBC's 'War & Peace,' 'Peaky Blinders') and Jessica Regan (reprising the role as Cathleen from the 2016 Bristol Old Vic production) round out the ensemble cast.

Paying homage to one of the most influential groups of all time, NBC is celebrating Sweden's most popular export with 'ABBA: Thank You for the Music, An All-Star Tribute.' Nancy And Beth (featuring Megan Mullally and Stephanie Hunt) make their Cafe Carlyle debut, May 1-5. The self-described punk-showbiz band has been praised by NPR's All Things Considered as 'musical misfits,' and 'as sharp as any revivalist act going today' by The Los Angeles Times. In a review of their self-titled debut release, Rolling Stone noted 'It wouldn't be fair to call it a purely comedy album - it's too seriously musical and carefully curated for it to be that - but Nancy And Beth wisely doesn't try to disguise the comedic gifts of its creators. Instead, it shows the way Mullally and Hunt can be totally in sync to whip up a unique, coherent vision.' Schimmel Center will present Tony and Pulitzer Prize nominee Anna Deavere Smith's Obie Award-winning solo performance, Notes From the Field, for one weekend only on Friday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in preparation for a two week run at the Royal Court in London. The production is directed by Leonard Foglia and features original music composed and performed by bassist Marcus Shelby who joins Ms. Smith on stage.

Morgan Lariah and Barbara Mueller-Wittmann team up to present the West Coast Premiere of a fresh adaptation of Kassandra, a solo piece performed and produced by Lariah and directed by Mueller-Wittmann. As part of the 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival, Kassandra will be presented at the Broadwater Studio (1078 Lillian Way, Los Angeles 90038) on June 2nd, 8th, 16th, and 22nd.

The Segal Centre is thrilled to announce that due to popular demand, the English-language world premiere of The Angel and the Sparrow will be extending until May 13, 2018. Based on the true story of Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf, two indomitable women of incomparable talent, this new musical drama is an intimate and entertaining portrait of the fascinating friendship between show business legends that began under the most unlikely of circumstances and lasted their entire lives.  

Casting is announced for two REPRISE 2.0 productions with two Tony Award leading actress nominees: Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde - Tony Nomination, Hairspray, Anger Management) is to play Charity in Sweet Charity, directed and choreographed by three time Tony Award-winner Kathleen Marshall from June 20 to July 1, and Carmen Cusack (Bright Star - Tony Nomination, Wicked) is to play Victoria Grant in Victor/Victoria directed by Richard Israel and choreographed by John Todd from September 5 to 16 at UCLA's Freud Playhouse.
