Like a sad, lonely island, depleted of its bounty, a single floor of the offices of Lehman Brothers is revealed, isolated, lofted above the endless business of a bustling Manhattan. It is empty, save for the boxes of files stacked on top of each other after declaring bankruptcy in 2008 and the memory of three brothers who founded the company 158 years earlier and their descendants who kept it thriving as a global investment bank.

DCINY (Distinguished Concerts International New York) presents an evening of music by English composer Will Todd led by Maestros James Meaders (DCINY Conductor) and Alicia Walker (DCINY Guest Conductor). Performed by Distinguished Concerts Singers International with Todd on piano accompanied by his Jazz Trio and soloist Kristin Claiborne, soprano, the evening will feature three works by Todd, his acclaimed Mass in Blue, Songs of Peace and No More Sorrow. As a performer she just completed a star turn in Gulf View Drive at Washington Stage Guild (WSG), the company she helped found back in 1986. The Canadian Opera Company announced today a new mainstage commission: The Old Fools by celebrated Montreal-based composer Ana Sokolovi? and seasoned British librettist Paul Bentley. La Reine-Garcon, first announced in 2015, is moving forward as a co-commission with the Opera de Montreal; it's the first mainstage collaboration of its kind between the two major Canadian opera companies and at its helm are two exceptional Canadian artists: Julien Bilodeau as composer and Michel Marc Bouchard as librettist.

The two-act work, a co-commission and co-production between San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, is based in part on Frank Capra's 1946 film It's a Wonderful Life and The Greatest Gift, a story by Philip Van Doren Stern.

Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present SUPERFLEX: We Are All in the Same Boat, the first large-scale exhibition of the critically acclaimed Danish collective SUPERFLEX in the United States. On view in the Museum's newly renovated facility at MDC's Freedom Tower in downtown Miami, the exhibition will focus on the group's humorous and playfully subversive installations and films that deal with the economy, financial crisis, corruption, migration, and the possible consequences of global warming. SUPERFLEX: We Are All in the Same Boat will be on view from Nov. 15 through April 21, 2019.
