BRIC, celebrating 40 years as the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, announces the New York premiere of Hair & Other Stories from newly appointed BRIC Artists-in-Residence Urban Bush Women.

The Actors' Gang announced today that the stage adaptation of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's war novel, Johnny Got His Gun, written by Bradley Rand Smith and directed by Tim Robbins, will kick off The Actors' Gang 2018/19 Season from Saturday, October 6th to Saturday, November 10th, 2018. The press opening is Saturday, October 13.

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and Albertine Books,the dynamic bookshop and cultural center operated by the French Embassy in New York, today announce prominent American and Russian journalist, professor, and author Masha Gessen as the curator of the fifth annual Festival Albertine, which is themed 'Reimagining Democracy' and takes place October 30 - November 3, 2018. Informed by experience as a witness to affronts to democracy today, Gessen has often urged people to open their eyes to such challenges, and to use their imagination to picture what is further at stake. Many thinkers from France, America, and across the Francophone world are similarly united by a pressing concern over surging demagoguery and democracy's fragility.

Tickets on sale today for three plays in the Carrie Hamilton Theatre of the Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, this fall. Six of Broadway's most sought-after stars will join Mark Cortale's "Broadway @ The Art House" and "Broadway @ Town Hall" concert series in Provincetown in August.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) announces Writer-Director Communications Lab on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 10am-6pm at Studios 353, 353 W. 48th Street, Studio B (basement). Registration is $75 for TRU members ($85 for non-members), $30 for an additional collaborator (writer), and registration for TRU Member observers is $30 ($40 for non-members). More artists have been announced to perform at the Chillin' on the Lucie music festival in Port St. Lucie, Fla., Oct. 3 - 7. Uncle Kracker has joined the roster, as well as Cassadee Pope, Parmalee, Josh Gracin, Clare Dunn, Kalie Shorr, Hudson Moore and Lewis Brice. Twang and Round, Radio Romance, Julia Cole, Honey County, County Wide and Libby Switzer are also set to perform. The hit summer series “World of Dance,” starring Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, NE-YO and Jenna Dewan, will bring aboard several of the most accomplished and celebrated dancers in the world as guest mentors and guest judges during its highly successful second season.

Circle X Theatre Co. presents the world premiere of a site-specific theatrical event, HOLE IN THE SKY, written by Octavio Solis and directed by Kate Jopson (Fefu and Her Friends). Commissioned by Circle X Theatre Co., HOLE IN THE SKY will have a press opening on Friday, August 24 at 8pm and continue through Sunday, September 23 at Courtship Ranch, 11270 Dominica Ave. in Lake View Terrace.

The Young Ensemble performs the Bessie Award-winning Naharin's Virus in the Ted Shawn Theatre at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, July 4-8. The work showcases the "superhumanly spry" (The New York Times) abilities of the Israel-based contemporary dance company, a second branch of Batsheva Dance Company. Batsheva and The Young Ensemble have gained international recognition for their use of the innovative movement research Gaga, developed by Artistic Director Ohad Naharin. With Gaga as their primary tool, The Young Ensemble lets go of the constraints of their technical training and unleashes the "free, exhilarating range of their movement" (The Guardian).
