It is with a mix of both excitement and sadness that Nightwood Theatre's Board of Directors announces the departure of Artistic Director Kelly Thornton. Kelly will be stepping down from her position in order to take on the role of Artistic Director of Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre in Winnipeg. Royal MTC is Canada's oldest regional theatre, and produces 10 plays on two stages, a regional tour of Manitoba and Northwest Ontario, a wide range of youth programming and two annual festivals: the Master Playwright Festival, and North America's second-largest Fringe, the Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival.

Dick clark productions and ABC today announced a red-hot collaboration from multiplatinum-selling artist Ciara and two-time American Music Award winner Missy Elliott, as well as a performance from singer/songwriter and first-time AMA nominee Dua Lipa. Ciara, Missy and Dua join previously announced performers benny blanco with Halsey and Khalid, Cardi B featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin, Mariah Carey, Post Malone featuring Ty Dolla $ign, and Carrie Underwood, as well as a moving tribute to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the "2018 American Music Awards," the world's largest fan-voted awards show, will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8:00 p.m. EDT, on ABC.

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and Albertine Books,the dynamic bookshop and cultural center operated by the French Embassy in New York, today announce prominent American and Russian journalist, professor, and author Masha Gessen as the curator of the fifth annual Festival Albertine, which is themed 'Reimagining Democracy' and takes place October 30 - November 3, 2018. Informed by experience as a witness to affronts to democracy today, Gessen has often urged people to open their eyes to such challenges, and to use their imagination to picture what is further at stake. Many thinkers from France, America, and across the Francophone world are similarly united by a pressing concern over surging demagoguery and democracy's fragility.

3 Plays Come to The Carrie Hamilton Theatre Of Pasadena Playhouse This Fall!

Tickets on sale today for three plays in the Carrie Hamilton Theatre of the Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, this fall. The Los Angeles premiere of Bess Wohl's darkly comic American Hero, a Pasadena Playhouse Guest Production from IAMA Theatre Company, directed by James Eckhouse performs September 15 to October 31 (press opening September 21).  Next, The USC School of Dramatic Arts and Pasadena Playhouse continue their exciting partnership by presenting two productions for the School's MFA in Acting program at the Carrie Hamilton Theatre: Detroit 67 by Dominique Morisseau, directed by Gregg T. Daniel November 8-10, and The Receptionist by Adam Bock, directed by Andi Chapman November 16-17.
