The Mystic Museum of Art (MMoA) is fortunate to have significant holdings in its permanent collection. The collection includes artwork by the institution's founding members and artists that also played a role in MMoA's development from Art Association to Art Center. Works by Charles Davis, Ward Ranger, Harve Stein, and Yngve Soderberg constitute the core of their collections. Local contemporary artists like Dan Truth, Charles Chu, and Sarah Stifler Lucas may also be found in the collection.

Minneapolis indie juggernauts, Solid Gold, are officially back with the single “Towns.” The song marks the first taste of new music from the trio of Zach Coulter, Matt Locher, and Adam Hurlburt since 2012's critically-acclaimed Eat Your Young. The band has spent the past several years focusing on several other high-profile collaborations (Coulter with GAYNGS and Taggart and Rosewood, and Hurlburt with Aero Flynn, GAYNGS and Har Mar Superstar). With mixing and production from Josh Berg and Ryan Olcott, “Towns” finds the band expanding upon their trademark dream-inducing electronic sound with layer upon layer of retro synth, deep bass, and washed-out vocals - balancing a unique hybrid of R&B and indie pop with ease. Coulter described the process of the single, 'We started melding Towns together in Matt's basement. I had the synth top line and a basic structure. The lyrics came shortly after and are all about seducing the idea of 'Faith' as a person in order to destroy it.' “Towns” is now available to stream or purchase on all digital platforms today. Atlantic Theater Company (Neil Pepe, Artistic Director; Jeffory Lawson, Managing Director) announces a one week extension for the world premiere production of Halfway Bitches Go Straight to Heaven by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis (Between Riverside and Crazy), directed by Obie Award winner John Ortiz, and co-produced with LAByrinth Theater Company. DanceWorks presents Mînowin, a stunning new multimedia work by Dancers of Damelahamid, a celebrated Indigenous dance company from the Northwest Coast of British Columbia. Iconic alternative rock band R.E.M. has shared previously unreleased song “Fascinating” to benefit global organization Mercy Corps' Hurricane Dorian relief and recovery efforts in the Bahamas. Band members Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Michael Stipe recorded “Fascinating” in 2004 at Nassau's Compass Point Studios.

The Academy of American Poets is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 American Poets Prizes, which are among the most valuable and venerable poetry prizes in the United States. This year the organization has awarded more funds to poets than any other organization, giving a total of $1,250,000 to poets at various stages of their careers.
