Denver Center for the Performing Arts' Broadway & Cabaret announce the 2020/21 season subscription shows and added attractions. On the full subscription, joining the previously announced To Kill a Mockingbird, is: 1776; Ain't Too Proud a?' The Life and Times of The Temptations; The Other Josh Cohen, produced by DCPA Cabaret; Tootsie; the Tony & Grammy Award-winning Hadestown; Pretty Woman: The Musical; and the highly anticipated, Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

On March 20, 2020, Sybarite5, the first string quintet ever to win the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, celebrates the release of its fourth album, Live from New York, It's Sybarite5 [BTSC-0131/1 CD], a recording featuring live performances from Chelsea's The Cell, a performance space the innovative string quintet has called its New York home for more than a decade. The quintet's second album on the Bright Shiny Things label features newly commissioned world premiere works by Brandon Ridenour, Ehsan Matoori, Steven Snowden, and Michael Dellaira; and string quintet premieres of works by William Brittelle, Marc Mellits, Aleksandra Vrebalov, and John Coltrane. Guest artists for the album include co-artistic director of Silkroad, Grammy® winning percussionist Shane Shanahan; renowned santoor player Ehsan Matoori; and acclaimed mezzo-soprano Blythe Gaissert. In addition to CD format, the album will be available as a high-resolution download (96kHz 24-bit FLAC), and in limited edition vinyl.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival presents Ruby: The Story of Ruby Bridges on the Festival Stage March 6 through March 22, 2020. Produced in collaboration with Montgomery Public Schools, the play is adapted by Christina Ham, who penned last season's Four Little Girls: Birmingham 1963 and Nina Simone: Four Women, with music by Gary Rue.

A star-studded cast including some of Australia's most celebrated television, film and theatre performers will join already announced Lachy Hulme and Roz Hammond in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, to be staged at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne for a strictly limited season from 23 May.

Post-world-war-two America somehow managed to erase what 1920s women had fought so hard to create, and what the war effort at home had literally proved, that women could just as easily do a man's job. During the war, women were working in factories, becoming mechanics, if it was a 'man's job' women were out there doing it while the men fought the war. When the men came home, somehow women said hurrah! and happily became housewives and mothers. 'Whew! So glad to be back where I belong!' every magazine, billboard, and family-centric television show seemed to say, characterizing women as happy homemakers whose identity was determined by her biology aka her ability to keep a man happy in bed while producing babies, and all of the domesticity that implies.

Ballet West will shine brightly with George Balanchine's visually stunning abstract ballet, Jewels, at Northrop Feb 22-23. Jewels is a full-length examination of the history, beauty, and diversity of ballet technique with music performed by a live orchestra. The masterpiece encompasses three movements with distinct moods and music: Emeralds, set to Gabriel Fauré's dreamlike score evoking France; Rubies, featuring the high intensity of Igor Stravinsky's jazzy energy as a nod to urban America; and Diamonds, representing the imperial court of Russia with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's awe-inspiring sound.

Musical legends Mariah Carey, Annie Lennox / Dave Stewart p/k/a Eurythmics, Ernie Isley / Marvin Isley / O'Kelly Isley / Ronald Isley / Rudolph Isley / Chris Jasper p/k/a The Isley Brothers, Steve Miller, Chad Hugo / Pharrell Williams p/k/a The Neptunes, Rick Nowels and William “Mickey” Stevenson will become the latest inductees of the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization's 51st Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. These legendary songwriters wrote mega-hits such as, 'Vision of Love,”  “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” “Shout,” “The Joker,” “Hollaback Girl,” “Heaven is a Place on Earth,” and “Dancing In The Street.” The star-studded induction event is slated for Thursday, June 11th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Additional special award honorees will be announced soon.

The magic and wonder of a snowy day will come to life in First Stage's production of THE SNOWY DAY AND OTHER STORIES BY EZRA JACK KEATS, based on the 1963 Caldecott Medal-winning book by acclaimed author and illustrator Ezra Jack Keats, adapted for the stage by Jerome Hairston and Co-Directed by Samantha Montgomery and Kat Wodtke. An imaginative ode to childhood, audiences will delight in encountering Peter who is eager to explore the winter wonderland outside - throwing snowballs, making snow angels and experiencing the crunch, crunch, crunch of the fresh snow. Adventure with Peter as he grows up and explores the wide and wonderful world around him! Alex Poots, Artistic Director and CEO of The Shed, today announced its 2020 Season of new productions by progressive artists from across the performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture, including live performances, solo exhibitions, and the final group of The Shed's inaugural Open Call series for emerging New York City-based artists. Poots also announced the appointment of Madani Younis, who joins The Shed in January as Chief Executive Producer. To celebrate the opening season as it draws to a close, The Shed will host its first open house, Meet at The Shed, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, featuring special pop-up events and free admission to its current exhibitions.

New Repertory Theatre dusts off an old chestnut for a family-friendly, non-holiday, crowd-pleasing offering as their gift for the season. Lionel Bart's OLIVER!, based on Charles Dickens' novel OLIVER TWIST, is known to be a little dark, with its themes of orphans, child exploitation, and vast income inequality (sound familiar?), but in the hands of New Rep's new Artistic Director, Michael J. Bobbitt, the darkness is lightened up with jaunty performances, a smattering of silly antics, and a set design (Luciana Stecconi) that skews to the cartoonish. With almost a dozen capable adults anchoring the cast, the seven children of all ages are given free rein to behave like children, albeit amazingly talented and spirited ones.

Global pop icon Art Garfunkel appears at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts as part of his intimate and deeply personal world tour, In Close Up, that features the famed folk singer performing Simon & Garfunkel songs, solo hits and covers as well as reading excerpts from his book, What Is It All But Luminous, on Sunday, January 12, 2020, 7:00 pm, in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis.
