What MasterVoices does is very special. The lush one-night-only production of STRIKE UP THE BAND on 10/28 revived and revised a Gershwin/Kaufman show with a full orchestra, 145-person chorus, dancers and a star-studded, superb principal cast. MasterVoices’ 2024-25 season continues next year on February 3 and 4 with Blind Injustice.

The International American Ballet had a successful and sold-out performance of “True Icons Gala” on Saturday, October 19th, at the cozy 14th Street Y Theater in Manhattan. This event offered a refreshing mix of classical ballet and tango, highlighting the company’s diverse talents.

The UK Tour of PRIVATE LIVES will visit Theatre Royal Brighton from Tuesday 12 to Saturday 16 April 2022.

The Virgil Thomson Foundation today announced the digital release of Virgil Thomson: Complete Chamber Works, the first complete recording of chamber works by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer/author Virgil Thomson (1896-1989).

The legendary Glenn Miller Orchestra from New York will perform at the Kauffman Center June 25, 2022, as part of their world-wide tour. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced its long-awaited return to live concerts in Alice Tully Hall for the 2021-2022 Season with 30 concerts, comprising more than 94 unique works, 14 of which have never before been presented by CMS on the Alice Tully Hall stage.

For 'date night' on Valentine's Day weekend, the Music Institute of Chicago presents 'From the Heart,' a concert featuring members of the Music Institute's internationally renowned faculty performing romantic music, Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Ave., Evanston.

Mozart knew a thing or two about how to please an audience. The great German composer wrote his Piano Concerto No. 22 to be performed in 1786 during Lent when the theaters and opera houses were closed in Vienna in observance of the Christian season just prior to Easter. But the previous December, he gave a workshop performance during the intermission of an oratorio titled Esther by composer Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf.

Actress Fay McKenzie Waldman passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of April 16th at the age of 101. She was born February 19, 1918 into a show business family where she was the youngest of two sisters and an actress cousin, and made her screen debut at only ten weeks old in "Station Content" (1918) in which she was carried in the arms of Gloria Swanson. Her parents, Eva & Bob "Pops" McKenzie were already veteran performers and apparently wanted their daughter to get an early start in films. She nearly stole the show from Oliver Hardy as "the baby" in the Alice Howell short "Distilled Love" (filmed in 1918 but released two years later). By the time she was six, Fay was considered an old hand, having played diverse parts in her father's stock company. Among her early films was the 1924 Photoplay Medal Winner, "The Dramatic Life of Abraham Lincoln."
