Something magical happens when the sultry hot jazz made famous by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli meets the hard-driving Western swing sound pioneered by Bob Wills and early string bands of the American Southwest. The ear-catching result of this surprising marriage is the Hot Club of Cowtown, the effervescent Austin-based trio beloved for more than two decades by devoted fans across the United States and around the world. Romantic and rhythmic, happy-making and heart-breaking, sophisticated and elegant while still down-to-earth and rugged, the Hot Club of Cowtown now returns with its much-anticipated eleventh album, an enticing new collection of original compositions (plus a few inspired standards) entitled Wild Kingdom.  The album will be available to the public on September 27, 2019.

Vida Blue - Page McConnell - keyboard, vocals (Phish), Oteil Burbridge - bass (Dead & Company, Allman Brothers Band), Russell Batiste - drums (The Meters), and Adam Zimmon - guitar (Ziggy Marley, Shakira) -- has announced the release of their first album in 15 years. CROSSING LINES arrives digitally Friday, September 20. Female folk-roots trio Red Molly brings its three-part harmonies, dazzling virtuosity, and impeccable songcraft to Club Helsinki Hudson on Wednesday, August 7, at 8pm.

The jazz pianist is also a prolific recording artist and his quintet will play the final Jazz Club performances of The Soraya's 2018/19 season on May 10 and 11.

PSYCHO LAS VEGAS continues to make waves as it announces its full artist lineup for this year's festival at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino August 16 – 18, 2019. From Opeth's only U.S. performance of 2019 and Megadeth performing their only Vegas show of the year, to the return of fan favorite Electric Wizard, the lineup is sure to create one for the record books. Four stages with more than 65 bands will rock the resort as both first-time and veteran acts bring the biggest and most electrifying PSYCHO LAS VEGAS music fest to life:

Award winning composer and pianist Dustin O'Halloran (Marie Antoinette, Lion, Transparent) whose “sublime” and “enveloping” (DIS) music creates “altered states” (Mojo) teams with choreographer and Company Wayne McGregor member Fukiko Takase to explore ideas of technology, humanity and mind-body dualism in a new electronics-forward existentialist performance 1 0 0 1. As we approach the age of AI, the collaborators ask: how will a new form of consciousness manifest inside a body? What will happen to our soul? 

DanceHouse will present the world premiere of Kidd Pivot's Revisor, February 20-23, 2019 at 8pm at the Vancouver Playhouse (now sold out). In their third collaboration, Kidd Pivot Artistic Director Crystal Pite and Electric Company Theatre Co-Founder Jonathon Young join forces to create a wildly innovative dance/theatre hybrid, mixing classic farce and the forces of radical change to craft a fizzing concoction that confounds expectations and inverts the official order. The bold physicality of Pite's choreography for eight dancers embodies the eviscerating wit of Young's script, recorded by some of Canada's finest actors.

The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica presents Billy Valentine, today, November 2 at 8:00pm.  Billy Valentine is the third evening of blackbox @ the edye, which transforms The Edye into a club featuring up-and-coming jazz and blues artists.  The series is curated and hosted by The Reverend Shawn Amos; he and his house band perform at select shows during the season as well.   

Today, BoomBox releases their newest offering, Western Voodoo. This album was recorded between 2017 and 2018 at Rat Nial studios outside muscle shoals Alabama .

The next Summer Happening at the Broad will close out the 2018 season on September 29th. Picking up where the season opener A Journey That Wasn't, Part 1 left off, A Journey That Wasn't, Part 2 will continue to explore how artists manipulate time through memory, appropriation and repetition, themes examined by the museum's exhibition, A Journey That Wasn't.

The Grammy-nominated Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, which captures the infectious fun of big band music, will perform at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00pm.  Jazz Times called the Los Angeles-based band, with a 32-year history, "one of current jazz's most vital large ensemble." Co-founder bassist John Clayton is a CSUN alumnus who has gone on to play with superstars such as Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Madonna.

Kronos Quartet/Kronos Performing Arts Association (KPAA) is proud to announce the fourth group of composers for Fifty for the Future: The Kronos Learning Repertoire. Launched in 2015, Kronos' Fifty for the Future is an exciting partnership with Carnegie Hall and others to create 50 new works - by 25 women and 25 men - expressly for the training of students and emerging professionals.
