Led by the Master of Ceremonies (Totia Meireles), a theatrical troupe tells the story of Prince Pippin (Felipe de Carolis), son and heir to the throne of King Charlemagne (Jonas Bloch). In search of the meaning of his life, and to achieve an extraordinary existence, he follows the advice of his grandmother (Nicette Bruno) and stepmother Fastrada (Adriana Garambone), goes through battles, experience power, the simple life and love.

Sony Classical announces the September 7, 2018 US release of Birgit Nilsson: The Great Live Recordings, a 31-CD set celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Swedish soprano. This limited edition brings together a collection of outstanding live recordings from the main centers of Nilsson's brilliant career: the Met in New York, the Bayreuth Festival, the Vienna State Opera, plus rarities from her concerts in Stockholm.  All the recordings were newly remastered in 2017 from the original analogue tapes.

Studio Theatre (FST) kicks off its 5th Summer Sidekicks Cabaret Series with the high energy music revue Carole's Kings. Honoring one of the most cherished and revered singer-songwriters of the 20th century, this cabaret transports audiences back in time to when Carole King was queen of the airwaves. Carole's Kings opens in FST's John C. Court Cabaret on June 14, and is part of a 3-show Summer Cabaret subscription package, which can be purchased for as little as $49.

Composer Thea Musgrave is celebrating these days. It's not just that she's marking her 90th birthday on May 27 with a concert in New York, but that the concert is showcasing a gaggle of world premieres, US premieres and NY premieres (along with more familiar works), which highlight her rich musical vocabulary and keen sense of drama.

Dennis Grimaldi will present Tony®Award-winner Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd) in two staged readings ofHarry Townsend's Last Stand, a new play by George Eastman.  Directed by two-time Emmy®Award-winner Peter Scolari (Wicked) and featuring Warren Bub ('Gotham'), the readings will be held on Monday, May 21 and Tuesday, May 22 at 3pm at Nola Studios (250 West 54th Street - 10th Floor/Studio 1).

'A Blanket of Dust' is the story of a modern day Antigone.  The daughter of a U.S. Senator seeks justice for her husband, who has died in the World Trade Center. Her ordeal drives her to the outer fringes of society.  After struggling to establish facts that the government, the media, her family and her countrymen deny, she protests with a harrowing act of sacrificial tragedy.  The play's world premiere will be presented Off-Broadway by Delphi Film from June 6 to 30 at The Flea Theater Mainstage,  20 Thomas Street, directed by Chris Murrah.

New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," announces its 28th season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the world premiere of THE ZOMBIES OF PENZANCE, Gilbert & Sullivan's newly discovered, original 'operatic abomination,' in its first ever production, running Sept. 27-Oct. 20, 2018; followed by the 'family values' classic musical LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, running Feb. 28-March 23, 2019; and to close the season, the St. Louis premiere of the new sci-fi rock musical BE MORE CHILL, based on the bestselling novel, running May 30-June 22, 2019. On 4 May 1972, when the Australian production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR opened at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, it was the most anticipated and lavish theatre event in Australian musical theatre history.

The 2018 Tony nominees are already winners... literally. For some, this marks their first nomination, but others have already won Tony Awards in seasons past. We took a look at which nominees have won at least a Tony or two (or nine) - amongst them, they've gathered a total of 88 awards!

Florida Studio Theatre Announces Its 5th Summer Cabaret Season with three delightfully inventive music revues. Carole's Kings kicks off the season with laughter and smooth harmonies in a unique tribute to one of America's most beloved singer-songwriters, Carole King. Following right behind are The Swingaroos with an all-new show, Music of the Night, celebrating the past century of Broadway hits. Capping off the Cabaret season is Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged, a stripped-down, funky salute to the 19th century composing duo. RATTLESTICK PLAYWRIGHTS THEATER (Daniella Topol, Artistic Director; Annie Middleton, Managing Director) is proud to announce that performances of Arthur Laurents's THE ENCLAVE begin tonight, April 24, 2018. THE ENCLAVE is presented with the support of the Laurents/Hatcher Foundation, which has awarded The Arthur Laurents Centennial Grant to MIDDLE VOICE, the apprentice company at Rattlestick.. Directed by Victor Cervantes Jr. (The Parlour), THE ENCLAVE will play an extremely limited run at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place) from April 24, 2018 through April 28, 2018.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) Artistic Director Bill Rauch announced the Festival's 2019 playbill today. The season, which will be Rauch's last at the artistic helm, celebrates Shakespeare, classics and new plays, including two American Revolutions commissions and a pilot Community Visit Project that will take a bilingual Play on! translation into community venues throughout the region.
