The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's "Scare Pair," a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost -- together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues).  Both works, with the libretto and music by Mr. Getty, will be sung in English and have a running time of 60 minutes each.

Unlike the vast majority of fantasy and sci-fi stories, which exclude or ignore LGBTQ narratives, it takes on a surrealistic sci-fi interpretation of what it is like for the play's hero, Sebastian, to come out to his father. Sebastian travels across the cosmos to obtain the mythical Sword of the Unicorn while overcoming his fears and doubts about his sexuality.

Manhattan Theatre Club has just announced it will produce the world premiere of Dan Cody's Yacht, a new play written by Anthony Giardina and directed by Doug Hughes, as part of MTC's upcoming 2017-2018 season. Dan Cody's Yacht will begin previews May 15, 2018 ahead of a June 6, 2018 opening night at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).

Lyric Unlimited has announced casting for the Chicago premiere of Fellow Travelers. Tenor Jonas Hacker and baritone Joseph Lattanzi will sing the lead roles of Timothy Laughlin and Hawkins Fuller, two men who fall in love during the height of the McCarthy era in 1950s Washington D.C. Devon Guthrie will sing the role of Mary Johnson, Hawkins's assistant and Timothy's confidante.
