Go Wild! as Selladoor Worldwide and Hartshorn - Hook announce that their brand-new stage adaptation Madagascar - A Musical Adventure is coming out of the zoo and onto a stage near you, opening at Wimbledon New Theatre on 16 July 2018 prior to a UK Tour.

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime.

Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar - A Musical Adventure follows all of your favourite crack-a-lackin' friends as they escape from their home in New York's Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien's Madagascar.

Alex the lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends - Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe and Gloria the hippo - have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape - with the help of some prodigious penguins - to explore the world.

This wacky adventure for the whole family is brought to life by Selladoor Family, the producers behind James And The Giant Peach, Seussical and The Owl And The Pussycat and Hartshorn - Hook, producers of the Olivier Award winning Rotterdam, Murder Ballad, Urinetown and American Idiot . Madagascar - A Musical Adventure will be directed by award winning Kirk Jameson who is thrilled to be working alongside Selladoor again having directed their 2013 revival of Seussical: The Musical at the Arts Theatre.

David Hutchinson, Executive Creative Producer of Selladoor says "One of our key principals at Selladoor is to aim to engage young people to come to the theatre and to help to encourage a whole new generation of theatre-goers, and Madagascar promises to do just that. We are delighted to be bringing these much-loved crazy characters to life on stage in an exciting caper for all of the family"

Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar will leave audiences with no choice but to "Move It, Move It!"

Selladoor Worldwide began its life in 2009 as Sell a Door Theatre Company and has gone on to develop rapidly under co-founders David Hutchinson (Executive Creative Producer) and Phillip Rowntree (Executive Commercial Producer). The company has become an integral part of the regional theatre landscape in the UK and Ireland, and increasingly on an international platform, establishing itself as a leading producer of mid and large-scale touring theatre.

From the very outset, the company's aim has been to make accessible work for our audiences, and their experience is at the heart of the company's work and artistic planning. Principally aimed at engaging young and adult audiences and first-time attendees, their objective is to continue to encourage the next generation of theatre goers. Their education programmes and online presence aim to provide the fullest experience of their productions possible.

Selladoor's origins lie in re-imagined classics and new commissions which they continue to champion to this day. They are able to create a varied and distinctive programme; large-scale commercial touring is complimented by the company's not-for-profit routes and ongoing investment and development of new work. As a company operating across a range of scales Selladoor continue to deliver and invest in their patron base on a regional and international basis.

In 2016 Selladoor Worldwide produced 8 productions, with over 1000 performances, across 8 countries, in over 50 venues, reaching over 409,109 audiences with Avenue Q (3rd UK Tour), Footloose (UK Tour), Little Shop of Horrors (UK Tour), American Idiot (UK Tour and West End), Hand to God (West End), James and the Giant Peach (UK and International Tour), and The Broons (New commission, Scottish Tour). They are proud to have successfully run the Greenwich Young Writers Programme, a scheme that developed 10 young writers and showcased their work at Greenwich Theatre.

2017 is an exciting year for Selladoor Worldwide with collaborations with Belgrade Theatre on The Quite Remarkable Adventures of the Owl & the Pussycat, adapted by Dougal Irvine from the book by Eric Idle, The Crucible (UK Tour), co-produced with Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch, followed by a new adaption of family favourite Guess How Much I Love You. With ongoing tours of Flashdance (UK Tour), Spamalot (UK Tour), Footloose (2nd UK Tour), Jersey Boys (International Tour) and The Producers (International Tour).

Hartshorn - Hook Productions is a producing and general management company founded in 2007 by Louis Hartshorn and Brian Hook, shortly after they met working on the UK Tour of The Producers.

Director Kirk Jameson is thrilled to be back with Selladoor, having directed their 2013 revival of Seussical: The Musical at the Arts Theatre.

Kirk is perhaps best know for his work at the Union Theatre, where he is currently in rehearsals for his upcoming production of Privates On Parade. Other credits for the Union include Annie Get Your Gun, Kander and Ebbs The World Goes 'Round, which earned nominations in three categories at the Off West End Awards, including Best Director. Once Upon a Mattress, Dames At Sea and On A Clear Day You Can See Forever (Best Musical Revival Nomination at Off West End Awards).

In 2016 Kirk directed the German premiere of Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years in Frankfurt in addition to the British premiere of The Great American Trailer Park at London's Waterloo East Theatre.

Prior to this, Kirk also presented a revival of the American comedy I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change at the Arts Theatre starring Julie Atherton, Simon Lipkin, Gina Beck and Samuel Holmes. Following a sell-out run and a nomination for Best Musical Revival at the Broadway World Awards, this production later returned for several gala performances to celebrate the titles 20th anniversary.
