Ford's Theatre Postpones GUYS AND DOLLS; Programs Closed To May 17

Ford's Theatre Society is further altering its programming schedule through May 17, 2020. All performances of Guys and Dolls have been canceled and the production will be rescheduled for spring 2021, with dates to be announced. Special thanks to Guys and Dolls sponsors Lead Sponsor: ConocoPhillips and Underwriters: Altria Group, General Motors Company and KPMG LLP. The musical Man of La Mancha, originally announced as the spring 2021 production, will be postponed to a future season.

Out of an abundance of caution and to follow DC Health's recommendations, Ford's Theatre Society is altering its programming schedule through April 4. Ford's Theatre Society is staying abreast of the evolving situation related to the novel coronavirus COVID-19 and following advice from the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The latest Ford's Theatre updates will be posted on www.fords.org and main box office phoneline (202) 638-2941.

Princeton Summer Theater have announced the selection of Eliana Cohen-Orth as the company's Artistic Director for 2020. A member of the Princeton University Class of 2021 and a student in Princeton's Program in Theater, Cohen-Orth will spearhead the summer season in advance of Princeton Summer Theater's 50th anniversary celebration in November.

Montalvo Arts Center will present rock photographer, director, and author Ethan Russell in The Best Seat in the House. In this enthralling presentation, Ethan Russell (the only photographer to shoot album covers for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who) guides audiences through 400+ photographs and 90 minutes of behind-the-scenes stories, including The Beatles' Last Concert on the Roof, on stage with the Rolling Stones at Altamont, and shooting the iconic cover for The Who's Who's Next, among many other historic events. Russell offers an up-close and personal look at the rock star lifestyle from an unmatched perspective. 'True stories and the pictures to prove it,' he says. Ford's Theatre Director Paul R. Tetreault today announced the Ford's Theatre 2020-2021 season will include: Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful, directed by Michael Wilson and featuring Nancy Robinette; the D.C.-premiere of a new play based on the real-life friendship of contralto Marian Anderson and physicist Albert Einstein titled My Lord, What a Night, written by Deborah Brevoort and directed by Sheldon Epps; the musical Man of La Mancha, featuring Kevin McAllister and directed by Stephen Rayne; and A Christmas Carol featuring Craig Wallace in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge for the fifth year.

Artistic Director, Hunter Foster has announced Redhouse Arts Center's 2020-21 Main Stage Season featuring several Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning productions that are sure to delight audiences of all ages. With every production this season, Redhouse will utilize its versatile theatre space to treat audiences to a thrilling theatre experience. 'We found our audiences really loved the intimacy of our productions, as they did with our musical, Rent', stated Foster. 'Having the actors so close to the audience really elevated the story's emotional level. No other theatre in Central New York gives such an immersive experience to an audience the way Redhouse can, and we want to continue experimenting with our spaces for the 20/21 season', he concluded. Building on this year's success, Redhouse will offer five Main Stage shows with some productions offering an extended three week run.

Requiem: This Earth, Our Home, a timely new oratorio written by Van Nuys High School students for the Los Angeles Master Chorale's Voices Within Oratorio Project, will be premiered by students and members of the Master Chorale on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, February 29th in the school's auditorium. The Friday performance will be for fellow students; Saturday's performance at 1:00 p.m. is a free community concert and open to the public.

Following five-weeks of exceptional performances in New York City, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will continue its “Ailey Revealed” season during a 21-city North American tour which kicks off during Black History Month. The 2020 engagement opens on February 4th at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. with a gala to benefit Ailey's D.C. programs, including the creation of new works, Arts-In-Education activities, and scholarships to talented young area dancers to attend The Ailey School in New York. Ford's Theatre Society announced full casting and the design team for Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson, a captivating play based on the life of trail-blazing astronomer Henrietta Leavitt. The Ford's Theatre production is directed by Seema Sueko and features Laura C. Harris (Arena Stage's The Heiress, Signature Theatre's The Flick) as Henrietta Leavitt, Nora Achrati as Annie Jump Cannon, Emily Kester as Margaret Leavitt, Jonathan David Martin as Peter Shaw and Holly Twyford as Williamina Fleming.
