The Jeff Awards meeting on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the Greenhouse Theatre will include a panel discussion on Latinx Theatre. Latinx Theater groups have been forming across the country in the past 10 years. These groups are dedicated to education, advocacy and community amongst Latinx performers. In Chicago, one of the most visible of these groups is ALTA (The Alliance of Latinx Theater Artists of Chicago).

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced today that treasured musician, storyteller and 12-time JUNO Award nominee Alan Doyle will host and perform at the 2019 JUNO Songwriters' Circle. Ford's Theatre Society announced that audiences and the company of A Christmas Carol raised $100,777.76 for the Homeless Children's Playtime Project during performances of this season's A Christmas Carol. This year's funds raised brings the company's 10-year totals to $836,600.29 for D.C. charities, aiding the thousands within the D.C.-area who struggle with illness, homelessness and hunger.

Beginning at 8 pm, the performance will include Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Violins in G Minor, his Concerto for Two Violins in A Minor, and The Four Seasons, his beloved collection of violin concerti. Tired of the same old Christmas Carol? Downtown Music Productions presents A Chamber Christmas Carol at the gorgeous St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery. Composer Ray Leslee (Avenue X, Standup Shakespeare) has created a brand-new take on the holiday season's most prolific tale. This ONE NIGHT ONLY event features a virtuoso company of five musicians and five actors who play 35 roles, telling the classic tale through Leslee's music and selections from Dickens' masterpiece. Tom Ligon (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) stars as Scrooge. The cast includes Mark Boyett, Jack McCarthy, JD Mollison and Alex Sunderhaus. The musicians are Broadway veterans Jack Bashkow (woodwinds), Jeff Carney (bass), Marshall Coid (violin), Ron Hay (trombone) and Mimi Stern-Wolfe at the piano. Margarett Perry directs.

December 2018 will see Orange County's Pacific Chorale give voice to the holiday spirit with two contrasting concerts: "Carols by Candlelight" at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach and "Tis the Season!" at Segerstrom Center for the Arts' Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa. The first of the two "Tis the Season!" performances will be followed by the Chorale's annual Holiday Gala fundraising dinner, "Imagine, Inspire, Create," at The Center Club, located just across the Argyros Plaza from the concert hall.
